And I don't mean gold ties. I'm talking about family (spouses, children, partners), mortgages, general life commitments.

yes...I'd be out of here like a greyhound out of trap 5
Yup Rawks ... I'd be gone like a shot
Whatever is is (what is it?) seize the day, go for it!
Toronto Film School in Canada. 18 month course. Had a phone conversation with them the other day and it all sounded very promising and exciting, with possible decent job prospects.
The idea of moving to another country doesn't phase me. The price and if it's a sensible thing to do is what's grating my pickle.

no pain, no gain Rawky
Well, weigh it up against the alternative, which is (presumably) staying here. Which sounds the more exciting, hopeful, promising, advanteageous to your future?
Decision made

In't that to be a cross country runner or summat?

That sounds for too sensible.
Okay. A few options ...
Is there a comparable Film School here?
If you can afford to pay, can you afford to take an internship somewhere?
and ... Erm, I will keep on thinking

The most comparable is London and it's twice as expensive.
I can work out in Toronto, I'm permitted to work 20 hours a week and there are plenty of language schools. I mean it is doable, but my savings will be all gone.

and what about the cost of living compared to London, which is extortionate

They offer you accommodation for an additional cost. It works out to be about ÂĢ500-ÂĢ600 a month. But that includes rent, food, a phone, and general living costs.

It seems reasonable Rawky if you can work the 20 hours you'd pay much, much more in London

A life. A house. Thought it would be wise to have something to support you.
Have you got a job Rawks? A steady, safe job that will mean that you can pay the mortgage on a house (and that's assuming that you managed to save around 30000 for the deposit)
go with your heart, whatever feels best. But don't look back and have regrets
Pack your bags and GO. Life's too short etc., and who wants to look back and say "What if/Wish I'd..."
YES !
Without hesitation. I'm at the point in life where career change is almost impossible and I have only really just figured out what I would really have liked to do.
Thanks, peeps. I'm off to bed as I have work in the morning, but I'll take on board all that has been said.
I have contacted the British Council to see if I qualify for any bursaries or assistance with funding. Should hopefully hear tomorrow.

If only I could have liked you post 50 times.
defo -too good a chance to miss world is very small with air travel these days
Yes go for it - you only live once
Yes go for it - you only live once
Unless you are Sean Connery
Live your life to the full
But be sensible too
... then go for it - no regrets

Maybe those things are waiting for you in Canada.... I think you should go for it.

^^^^What Cosi said.
Rawky do it. Once life takes over & you do have the house, career etc. Your chances to such things will shrink massively. You're young, you're not tied down. GO FOR IT!
I did similar when I was mid twenties, was in a safe, well(ish) paid job, but I was bored. Handed my notice in & flew off to the states with no idea what I would do, but it didn't matter.
I agree. If you're EVER gonna do it, this is the time!
Come on over!
(even though I'm nowhere NEAR Toronto...)
Sounds like a really good thing to do...and Canada is great (not that I've been) just from others who have....
Yep go for it!

I have friends too who have been on a number of occasions, they love it.
