I started watching Atlantis from Series 1, but soon realised that it was Merlin. You could substitute the characters across and notice very little difference apart from the setting.

I have not checked, but would not be surprised if the same people who made Atlantis also made Merlin.

I so wanted to love this show and was hoping for monsters and fun ancient things week after week. I'm sad.

Well, it seems that Jason will be off after the Golden Fleece soon.

I like the way they are incorporating the various Greek Myths into it, but with a slightly different spin.

it is the same people that made Merlin. . they've even used the same locations for some of the filming.. and the same CGI's too.. as you say close your eyes and it could be Merlin

No mention was ever made after the first episode that Jason actually came from our time to Atlantis either.. it was like it never happened. .also I thought Atlantis was meant to be a far advanced society and I expected more sci fi stuff than mystical stuff..

There's a petition calling for a third series of Atlantis to be made (the BBC axed it a few months after filming was completed on series 2).

And yes, I too wanted more sci-fi / mystical stuff too. Probably why I ended up half watching/surfing when it was on.
