This has been in our local news since Sorcha, aged 23, died of cervical cancer and her family are trying to get the government to allow cervical screenings for those who request them regardless of age as it could possibly save lives.

Quick bit of info from the petition to let you know what you are signing:

Sorcha Glenn was a beautiful and inspirational young lady, sadly taken from us aged just 23 following a 13 month battle with cervical cancer.

Sorcha had initially asked for a smear test in June 2013 but was refused based on age. After experiencing symptoms, Sorcha managed to get a smear test and was diagnosed in September 2013.

We do not want any more young ladies to be refused a vital smear test that could save their life, because of an age limit. We would like to petition that any female who requests a smear test should be provided with one, and it should not be refused based on age discrimination. As cancer does not discriminate.

It'll take a few minutes of your time but please, sign it.  There's only a few more days left to reach the numbers necessary for it to be considered for debate and they're still quite a bit short.

In Scotland ,women get smear tests starting at age 20.My niece had  slight abnormal readings at 23,she then went on for  Colonoscopy checkup, camera and further cell scrapes,no immediate action needed thankfully. She did have to attend every six months for smears for  four years. The last two years have been Normal readings, she received a letter stating she is now back on the usual three year smear tests.she was really pleased.

She had no symptoms at all,if she was in England etc......scary.
