Ooh I hadn't noticed those before Sprout - especially the Amazon one
It must work... cos I just bought a load of Christmas pressies from them
I need to pay more attention, I hadn't noticed any of those.
Clever designs maybe, but I wouldn't go as far as calling them subliminal messages.
eg: What does the arrow in FedEx make/suggest you do......post a parcel?
What does the cyclist in 'The Tour' promote....except The Tour?
Amazon - A to Z with a smile....and?
LG - who/ what are/is LG?
etc....
Well I thought they were good
Well I thought they were good
I didn't say they WEREN'T good, just not subliminal Messages in my book.
Depends how you interpret subliminal I suppose

I think they're subliminal cos they go straight to your subconscious, bypassing your conscious mind. *strokes chin... tries to look intellectual* That LG logo is a smiley face and people smiling at you makes you happy and you associate happiness with the brand.
I think I was already aware of most of those.
Of the ones I didn't know: I can't remember the last time I saw the FedEx logo, and I'd never heard of Baskin Robbins before. The only one that surprised me was the Toblerone bear: echos of the BT serpent (although I don't think that one was deliberate...)
I would agree that most of them are not really "subliminal". The Tour de France one certainly isn't, for example. However I'd argue the FedEx, Amazon and LG logos are to some extent: they're all designed to make you feel positive and "good" about their brands.
WRT subliminal advertising, and particularly the use of the "smiley face"...
Some of you may already be aware of Dave Gorman's "10:08 rule of advertising":

This is O/T, but I hope other FMs will humour me as I indulge in a rare bout of self-congratulation:
As you know, I'm not the most prolific of FMs, and I've never been all that bothered about Activity Points and Community Rank. However, I set myself a target during this year's "civilian" BB to get over the 120,000 point mark by Christmas. Despite a lack of posting over the last month that verged on wilful sabotage (and saw me slip back a place in the rankings), the post above finally pushed me over 120,000 Activity Points!

Congratulations on reaching your target, Eugene.

[I take a sneaky look at my rankings now and again ]
I wasn't questioning the 'subliminality', but the (alleged) messages they are carrying and what these (alleged) messages make you do.

Listen. If you want to question the subliminal try a mental breakdown. Then it's everything goes.
Shall we just be sublime instead, Velvy?

Well, so many of other posts seemed to be going on about whether these logos were or weren't subliminal and very few were about the supposed message - remember the opener took us to a site that said 'Subliminal Messages'.
I just thought it was something different to post *shrugs*
