That sounds wonderful, Supes! Better than Stoke Newington, probably.
Supes, have you bought from that website?
I'm rather partial to pistachios in Turkish Delight.
Lori, Stoke Newington is very exotic
I haven't Cos, but it does look v much like the 'real deal' and good that you can have a box made up with favourite flavours just as you would in Turkey. My favourites are usually the pistachio ones but the Coconut Cherry and Fig and Walnut ones look v v tempting.
......Chucks a few of the pomegranate ones to Stoke Newington for GJ

You probably know as much about Stoke Newington as I do Lori although having googled it it is in the same borough as where my niece has recently moved/started working...one thing is for sure the weather will be better

That's what I was thinking
Saves slapping all the way to Stoke Newington too
My eldest lives 10 mins walk from there
Obviously I knew Supes was off to Turkey. She spends most of the year there.

Actually you prompted me to text my niece to let her know I would be going down to that there London for a Conference in March and therefore arrange to stay with her for the w/e.....I'll have to check out nearby Stoke Newington whilst I'm there now !
And thanks to this thread I've now solved the one Christmas gift I've still got left to get and couldn't think of anything: my friend's husband adores Turkish Delight, Turkish food in general and cooking, so I'll get a mixed box from that site and a cookery book. Job done
Oh and I've just been given a recipe for Christmas Pudding vodka. Although if it turns out really well, not much of it might get given away.
I've just found one for Turkish Delight vodka
Yes, yes, yes. Everyone should make their Xmas presents and not go to the high street and buy expensive tat that no one wants or needs, unless your buying expensive tat for me of course.
But seriously, I think everyone contributing to this thread should ONLY send homemade presents to their family and friends this year. After all 'it's the thought that counts'... isn't it?

Have you got any ideas/suggestions EC?
My shopping is pretty much done...pressies will include a number of 'home made'/ 'personal' items and absolutely no tat, apart from a few cheap, daft, funny things for stocking presents

Marvellous idea. I'm off to buy some wool in order to create a knitted version of the latest i-phone for my relatives. Might even be able to knock up a woollen x-box for the younger ones. They will be thrilled!
due to circumstances meaning I can't do shops [agoraphobia] and don't have a lot of dosh anyway I've done home made pressies for the couple of mates that I have left [family all gone now] for a good few yrs..
Over various yrs they have been stuck with my home made fudge that always turns onto some gloopy toffee thing, my rum truffles which turn out a bit better but mainly an Xmas cake or Xmas pud.. I add a couple of bottles of decent Ale to wash the cake down with and bobs yer uncle, sorted!
Mind you cake ingredients are not cheap when all added together tho not so bad if cupboard has some of the stock already. Brandy for soaking fruit and feeding cake is a bit steep tho
Off to check out the Turkish delight recipe, not sure my mates like that but I bluddy love it... so pressie for me too

Yes, I would love to help. PM me your address and an idea what we will be making and I will pop along (could you get in some diet coke as I like a drop when crafting).

Only you can answer that one Kaffy, but out of interest if you do and it works tell me how it went as I would like to try that next year.
Full House!

Fabulous Madame, while you're on, if I send you the wool, can you knit me some diamond earrings?

EC....we'e still waiting for your ideas!
Just tested this one http://www.instructables.com/i...used-guitar-strings/ out on a guitarist friend 'cos I couldn't decide if it was a great idea or extremely naff, he thought it was great, so now I've spoilt the potential surprise
I am feeling crafty.....off to bed to think about what to do xxx

I'm on to it, Supes! No need to send the wool, I've unravelled a pair of Mr A's old socks that should do the trick. They are (were) blue-ish in colour but where his feet sweat so much they now have an amost gossamer look to them. Your blue-diamond ear-rings will be admired by many, I feel
