I always find this an interesting talking point, I mean how concerned are we really about the planets resources?
Shipping food and drink products around the world, enjoying a house full of electronic gadgets made by people on low wages in countries with serious human rights issues.
We still like to take holidays involving flights around the world (for some many times a year), how many inefficient vehicles are on our roads?
One could question the environmental impact of holding large scale sporting events involving people from around the world.
Then there is the Internet. Switch off your computers now everyone as there are many server rooms hosting racks and racks of computers and they are there just to serve out Internet lust.

Maybe Salmond's cleverer than we give him credit for. Maybe he knew the majority of the electorate weren't quite ready for independence, but that having a referendum would be enough to ruffle a few feathers.
