Was clutching at straws, but worth a shot.
Top of my head, how about Watermelon Man if we're talking 'snappy' and not necessarily Monk.
We could be here all night guessing
Just had a listen on youtube.... not it but grooooovy
I can't seem to play a trailer for the New York episode - has it not been screened yet?

The piano bit that the narrator talks over? It doesnât sound off-key so unlikely to be Thelonious.

I was a bit slow off the mark here and didn't know specifically what piece of music was being referred to - once I heard it I recognized it immediately, but by then I'd already been beaten to it...
As it happens, "Unsquare Dance" crops up a lot in adverts and trailers (and yes: I'm certain it was used in at least one car ad...)
According to the comments on youtube - 'Unsquare Dance' was used in a McDonalds ad 'shake the beans' ?
Well done, Kaffs
Now's not the time to mention that I have it on my itunes account....

Heheh - happens all the time, Cosmo.
Reminds me of a story Geoffrey Perkins used to tell about the original radio series of "The Hitchhikers's Guide to the Galaxy". As soon as the first episode was broadcast, loads of people wrote in asking what the theme music was. Once they were told it was "Journey of the Sorcerer" by the Eagles, many were surprised to find they already had it in their record collections...
I don't feel quite so dumb now, thanks Eugene
There's a programme about Great Expectations tonight BBC4 8.30-9 pm:
http://www.radiotimes.com/epis...1-great-expectations
Documentary series exploring classic works of fiction, beginning with TV script writer Tony Jordan examining Charles Dickens' popular novel Great Expectations. The presenter investigates why the author changed the ending of the book, and asks what this tells the reader about the writer. Plus, the original texts and manuscripts are examined, which offer clues about the novelist's troubled life, and may have influenced whether Pip would have a future with Estella in the story.
