I've always sworn by my washboard and mangle.
No tips, I always just look for something that has great reviews, isn't too dear and can be delivered quickly.
Nightmare when things like that break down. Mine died in November last year when I was trying to sort xmas.

But I feel your pain re the washing machine Jen That Aimee's white goods curse ranges far and wide Like Ells I tend to look for the same things, reviews, price and delivery . Hope you can sort it out soon
I'll ask Mr C what he thinks, he uses the washing machine more than I do.
Haggle
I have a Hoover 8KG ... cant praise it enough
the difference in load size for paying a little extra is remarkable and no more going to the manky laundarette to freshen the pillows and quilts etc is a huge bonus

Yup, I've had 7kg for a while now and could never go smaller! I'm thinking of just ordering the matching one to the tumble dryer i bought a month or so ago.
There are some amazing ones though!! I don't think i could justify the extra ÂĢÂĢs to buy one but there's one that has an app.... and if it goes wrong... The app tells you whats broken!!

I've known it was on it way out for a couple of weeks tbh The banging was a dead give away... was just running it til it died.
I have a new love relationship with AO.... They deliver for free the next day (we're out at a BBQ tomorrow so will have to be monday) and are usually the best price i can find. I ended up ordering my fridge from there after the appliancesdirect debacle and i really do think i will use them forever as long as their prices stay good... The delivery service has been excellent
Ask Aimee... she's tried out a few
I've kind of changed my outlook on electricals.
At one time I would have paid way over the odds for a brand I trusted or had used before.
But the bottom line is this:
Whether its a ÂĢ600 Zanussi or a ÂĢ200 Argos job - it will still only have 12 months guarantee.
I would now be tempted to buy the cheapie, run the sucker into the ground, then throw it away and buy another.
If a cheapie is still running after a year then there ain't a lot wrong with it.

My theory too - (although some will have five years on specifics, you still don't have to pay an arm and a leg for them) and I never buy extended warranties either. Maybe I've been lucky, but I reckon I've saved hundreds of pounds over the years.
Yup i could never pay over the odds for a washer cos i really do run them into the ground (use washer almost everyday!) I've just ordered an 8kg Hotpoint at a good price coming on Monday

Yay - sorted!
Actually I've got washing machine problems as well I've not had chance to look at it this week but I'm going to try and sort it today, it's leaking all over the floor when it's filling up, I think it's the pipes that are blocked and not the machine, well that's what I'm hoping anyway as I think I've only had this one about 2 yrs, I'll have a look in a minute or maybe later

Bet the first thing I'd find if i cleared it out on the buggered one would be loom bands!

Oh sorry Aimee.
Indeed the curse of Aimee strikes far and wide..!
Like Kaffs & Mike, I never get extended warranty and I don't usually buy anything too fancy either. My priority is to be able to set the temp, spin and length of wash - so any machine that lets me be in charge of the programming is fine.
No idea what make I'm using now and can't be faffed to walk to the laundry room to check. I know for sure that it's not one of those eco crap ones that take an eternity to wash the clothes

You could only get consumer advice like that from Cosi Life's too short dahlink!
I've always sworn by my washboard and mangle.
I always stand next to the cooker when I have a good swear.
Having said what I said though:
Beko washing machines are prone to failure and I would avoid them like the plague.
Their fridges are brilliant but washing machines - no.

Last one I bought was in Comet, just before it died, I was fed up and pissed off because I had been everywhere in a ropey old borrowed van, spefically for the purpose of transporting a new machine, and every shop I tried all parrotted this phrase at me - '' oh we do stock several that are ÂĢ200 or less but we don't have any right now, we have this at ÂĢ350 though, shall I wrap it?''
So I marched into Comet, slapped ÂĢ200 on the counter and said if you can sell me a washing machine for that money, then you've got a deal.
So he sold me a ÂĢ255 one for ÂĢ200, I was even impressed with myself.

Burnt the water again, JB?

I'm gearing myself up to clean the coffee machine. I can't be expected to do everything, can I..???
And it was a Beko, and it's still going strong.

I'm sure that's what we've got out in yonder sunshine land.
Works like a dream.
Big choice of programmes (I use about 3), and you can choose spin speed, temp etc to suit yourself.
Funny you should say you got a deal at Comet, JB.
I go local as they always have machines in stock and can deliver on the same day. It's the total opposite with our Comet, and they can only deliver on a Thursday (I usually walk in on a Friday....).

I always buy the cheapest equipment I can find,if I use some thing like a toaster or a washing machine nearly everyday, it's cheaper just to bin them and replace when they conk out, added to which on a washing machine I only use a hot was for sheets/towels and pants and a cool wash for everything else, so pointles for me to have one with bells and whistles, it also occurs to me that with less jiggerypokery there are fewer things that will break.

I reckon mine will be filled with those tiny little socks that just cover your toes and heels, whenever I wish lil AIms socks I'm always one missing
I honestly have no idea what my machine does. It has loads of settings and buttons but I know how to work it on just 2. A cool wash and a boil wash. So, cool for everyday things, boil for bedclothes etc.
