If you’re itching to know just when The X Factor 2014 starts on TV then wonder no longer, as the XFactor UK start date has just been confirmed.

It’s been speculated about for a while but now we know and it’s 100% official: Series 11 of The X Factor will kick off on Saturday, August 30 on ITV.

The first bumper long audition episode will air from 8PM on Saturday, August 30 and the show will continue at the same time on SUNDAY, August 31.

It’ll see the return of Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole to the panel, alongside new judge Mel B and – as always – Louis Walsh.

As with last year, the show will see a unique ‘double audition’ format: Budding hopefuls must first impress in the intimate setting of the judges’ rooms before then singing in front of 3,000 fans at Wembley Arena.

And in another twist, the age limit for the eleventh series has been cut back to just 14 for the first time since 2008.

Also this year, for the first time ever in X Factor UK history, the show will air on US telly.

The series will be broadcast on AXS TV just one day after each episode, with the premiere airing on Sunday, August 31.

All 34 episodes will be shown, from the pre-recorded auditions and bootcamp stages through to the live shows later on in the autumn.

I watch the auditions  I FF all the bits in between as I know what each judge says every year.

I have watched since the beginning, but I'm sick of Simon's hissy fits when he doesn't get the winner he wants - and the way those winners are treated.

I can't stand Mel B, and Cheryl whatshernewname gets on my wick, so it's time to switch off.

I would agree GJ, it's a big pile of steaming...

I was pleased to see big ratings drop last year and hope the trend continues.

Same in our house Joe, husband loves it. I don't mind the auditions, but the rest is not for me like.
