I want to go see Alice in Wonderland this weekend and the cinemas in my area offer both versions. I haven't seen Avatar so I don't know what to expect. My last memories of 3D was the early 90's watching Edward Scissorhands with 3D glasses which tinted the screen green and red. I was not impressed. I would love to read people's opinions thanks.
Hi to all I browse but don't post in here much.

They are much better now! Hope you enjoy the film,I'm sure it's better to see all the effects in 3D. Round here they charge you 80p for the glasses but you keep them and can use them for future films
New 3D is better than the old 3D.
Nice to see you posting with us again, Lois. Don't be a stranger.

Hi Lois.
I went to see Avatar in 3D last week, and the 3D effect was amazing.
The Real3D polarised system they use now is much better than the old green/red thing (but don't be tempted to take the glasses home with you; they're no use for anything else, and you get another pair every time you go anyway )

Sarum - we had to pay for ours so we did take them home again and have re-used them for another 3D film!

We really enjoyed it ... well worth seeing in 3D .... but those glasses begin to hurt your nose after a while ... Excellent effects though

Am I the only person on earth who couldn't give a poo about seeing Avatar? Looks like a three-hour computer game to me.
Sci Fi isn't normally my thing Deman but I really enjoyed Avatar!
I've just finished watching avatar that was "ahem" downloaded.
I really enjoyed it but having seen some things at the imax in 3d I think it would be amazing to se it in 3d.

I love the 3d films....our local cinema does a thing where you can re-use your glasses and pay less if you take them back for another film

3D Imax is how James Cameron intended "Avatar" to be seen. I took the parents to an Imax screening as my father's birthday treat, and virtually everyone in the theatre was going "WOW! " afterwards. It's just a totally immersive experience. True, "Avatar" isn't the greatest or most original story ever, and I'll be disappointed if it wins the "Best Film" Oscar, but it's a genuine "event" movie, and we don't get to say that often nowadays...
It's a load of blue cartoon people, with terrible clunky acting and script, from the clips I've seen. So glad it got snubbed at the Oscars. Just because it made a lot of money, doesn't mean it's good.
