When I'm trying to lose weight, (as I am atm,) I just pretty much take any recipe I like and 'adapt' it: fry light spray instead of oil; quark, O%greek yoghurt or fat free fromage frais instead of cream; philadelphia light instead of garlic butter, (for e.g. kiev) ; alpro light almond drink instead of milk; cornflour instead of butter/flour roux; choc shot instead of chocolate; then lots of stuff with spices; loads of veggies and fruit.

*drools*  I love passion fruit and mango

Use 0% greek yoghurt, mixed with quark to make it more creamy, and add powdered sweetener, if, like me you have a sweet tooth

Lamb chops with mint yoghurt and salad

rub lean lamb chops with mint and a little salt

cook under a pre-heated grill for 10 minutes each side

mix chopped mint and finely cut spring onions into fat free natural yoghurt - serve with a large green salad

I don't eat meat but my friend who does slimming world with me loves this

don't know if you like fish but it's good protein for when you're slimming

Haddock and peppers

roast pepper halves in a pre-heated oven 190 degrees or gas 5 for 15 minutes

wilt a bag of spinach with a little crushed garlic for 2 minutes in a large pan

mix quark, chopped basil one level teaspoon of mustard with salt and pepper and rub over the haddock fillets.

Arranged some sliced tomatoes across the top and place on a baking sheet lined with baking parchment .

Take the peppers out and fill them with the spinach mixture and then cover with foil and put back in the oven with the haddock.

cook for 20/25 minutes then serve with a leafy green salad

Veggie kebabs Cajun style

  • alternatively thread cubed veg onto a wooden skewer (pound shop) that has been soaked in water
  • [red onion, peppers, courgettes etc.]
  • mix some Cajun seasoning with lemon juice and and brush over the veggie kebab
  • place under a hot grill and cook till done, turning regularly
  • serve with rice adding a teaspoon of turmeric to the water while rice cooks or cous cous

I do similar and ensure that any meat I use has all the fat trimmed off - if there is any fat residue I drain it off or soak it up with kitchen roll.

I find avoiding bread altogether helps too - I know at SW you can have a bit but it just sets me off craving carbs.

Love it.

Thanks for the idea Soozy, there's a Jamie recipe I love that's v similar: he adds a bag of rocket and soft goat's cheese to the seafood pasta at the end, so I swopped the goat's cheese with phil' light: delicious
