Whilst you may have been quoting Marlon, I read it as you being surprised that he'd said what he thought out loud rather than being disappointed or disgusted at what he said. Hence your  rather than a or a  Let's face it, it is typical of the kind of remark you make frequently on here, and, when challenged, repeatedly say that you don't mean to offend/are only having a laugh. Yet no matter how many times you are told by people that they do find such comments offensive and misogynistic, you continue.

Some people might suggest that Denise's behaviour is very far from ladylike.

I see your point Baz, I was one that could not abide Denise.

But I am not buying this' he was disgusted by Marlon's outburst, when 'slut' was quoted, only to find  his other post in another thread calling a woman a 'slag.

The 2 words are interchangeable and have identical meaning.

If we are going to get annoyed with each other because our opinions differ then let's just take a few minutes to disect this using the two quotes on hand.

Let us ignore for the moment who said which quote and our personal opinions of them and just look at the quotes.

As I see it, the first quote is a personal opinion of ONE specific female.

The second quote however is a slur on ALL females in general, thus deserving of disgust from all, even those who may use undignified language when refering to specific persons.

I'm not annoyed by saint, because of who he is,I am annoyed by his posts, because the thread is fairly often littered with  his abusive  posts about women.

The similarity of the two posts exists in the  two words , which mean precisely the same thing.

The fact that one  refers to any and all women and the other refers to one specific woman, for me, is neither here  or there.

That is my last word on the issue.

I, like many others, dislike Denise Welch and called her out in such a way as a reference to her behaviour which most of us agree is a disgrace. Not withstanding her cheating on her husband and seemingly shameless drug taking.

And so my comment was specific to her only.

As for the 'Marlon' comment, my use of  was in disbelief that he would say that and was to everyone except one - completely understandable.

As for people being offended by my comment - well, of course I don't want to deliberately offend but I won't be gagged by a small (less than a hand full) of people who seem to have a problem whilst many more seem not to - or not to the extent that they need to comment.

If I am instructed by Moderators otherwise I will comply without reservation.

So it's acceptable to use such pejorative language when referring to the singular rather than the plural You also seem to be missing the point that St Renton frequently uses such terms about a number of women and that the assumptions that he was not happy/ disappointed/disgusted by Marlon's comment are precisely that, assumptions, and incidentally, ones that he has not confirmed.

I don't know where you get this Singular/Plural nonsense from.

The point I was referring to was why Marlon's comment was seen as worse (by some) than Saint's reference to Denise, not whether either of the forms of word used was any more or less acceptible than the other.

If you can't see the fact that you wanting to tell the joke was in itself an indicator of racism then that rather confirms my point.
