since she 'dumped him' first time-he's been self harming

You can tell him to get rid til the cows come home, unfortunately he probably won't listen. Maybe her going on the holiday could be a good thing.... Nowhere for her to run off to. If she is just using him, spending a week or two together might open his eyes to what she's really like? It's not ideal but letting her get a free holiday rather than him buying her an engagement ring, asking her to marry him and then getting hurt.

im telling you on here cos i cant say much at home cos causes friction

on saturday we spent £30 on BBQ food

It's hard to say nothing, when you know your child is being mugged off (I'm not known for keeping quiet in those instances) but sometimes you just need to let things run their course - and help them pick up the pieces afterwards.

I went out with a couple of right losers when I was younger, I never knew my mum hated both of them until after I had dumped them...

 

That's where I'm at with it too, Jen.  A word in her shell-like, let her know you've got her card marked etc..  None of this is to be done - nor should it be - in front of anyone else, least of all your step son.  But you can't sit there and let her carry on mugging everyone.

 

Either way, he's going to end up the victim in all of this.  The angle is, how do you let this one pan out without too much damage once the fall out takes place?  It's a bit of a sh*tty stick all round.
