M&S have some lovely plant bits and bobs on - a little enamel watering can filled with small purple flowers or a lovely blue bucket with sunflowers.

Think I'll get something like that for my mum .....I also painted her a lovely plate with fish bones and cat paw prints on it for her new cat - it was left to be fired have to go and collect it.

Got her a lovely black cat from the rescue place for her birthday last week.

Must remember to buy a lottery ticket .....she may be a lucky black cat!

I'm with Mrs. Jer. My children insist on honouring the day in the face of heavy opposition on my part. Loving your kids and wanting to bring them up to be happy should be the most basic emotion when you have children.

Of course but I do love making a bit of a fuss of my mum. It's just nice to have a 'special' day.

I've been to the sandwich shop or patisserie as they call it round these parts. The Florist is at the end of the row and behind it was a huge pile of empty boxes. Meanwhile a bunch of saps and mugs were carrying out ridiculous and probably very expensive creations.
One wants to shout, "you fools, you are buying the florist a Mothering Sunday present!"
In my experience chicks are just as happy with three bunches of late daff hybrids for three poond.

I'm sure a diet of late daff hybrids would be a very bad for a baby chicken!

i got given a HUGE joint of beef in the pub for a bit of work i did for someone

i defrosted it last night-cooked it this morning-it wasnt beef it was lamb

it was really fatty & horrible

for a joke i told the kids that i got it from a farm & the farmers wife had gone missing & it might be a chunk of her

i thought they'd laugh

Next time, save the joke until they've eaten the meat.

I bet the dogs were delighted with it.

Yes! My mum 's a different matter. We surprised her with the whole family and took her out for lunch. We had an amusing afternoon of games and have just returned.

One other thing I realised that may be different is that we have joint accounts, it seems daft giving money to a third party to buy a present for your partner. As charming Martin Lewis himself in his debonair mode observed, "you share bodily fluids, so what's the big deal about sharing money?"

My CD was Rod Stewar's latest

Got lovely flowers from my other son and a lovely card.

Daughter bought me a lovely bright Gerbera arrangement and an ornamental jar thing.

She took me out on a little shopping trip and treated me to some new socks and nicks and the two of us are going out for tea tomorrow.

Mum loved her assortment of bits and bobs and we all had a lovely dinner.

I had a lovely card from our friend and regular Sunday dinner guest. He is in his seventies and on his own so we have adopted him.  He bought me chocs and flowers and the sentiment in the card made me  just a little bit.
