That Gravity film doesn't appeal to me at all.
It doesn't appeal to me.
I loved it, but I think it's one of those movies you really have to see on the big screen (I saw it first in a 3D IMAX!) I can't imagine it being anything like as good on the telly...
I had similar feelings with "Avitar": that was definitely an "event" movie at the cinema (and it was also designed to be seen in an IMAX), but when scaled down for TV it was fairly ordinary...
Would I get away with something like a 72" screen...?
My friend has a la-di-dah TV room set up like a cinema so I might gatecrash there
That might do at a pinch!
Is it 3D too?

Yes, you are.

It's the Full Monty (sorry, dreadful pun!).
It's an all singing, all dancing full on screening room: comfy chairs, low lighting.....and ashtrays (air con'd). I half expect the kia-ora girl to come around during the interval

*Ahem* you're not kidding...
I was watching "The Long Good Friday" recently, and commented on how young she looked in it. It's sobering to think that she was in her mid-thirties even then...

Raging Bull was epic too.
A bit late to this thread - didn't see it. Once Upon a Time in America is one of my fave films too.

Blazing Saddles is one of my favourites or anything directed by Mel Brooks.
For anyone who didn't recognise the lines that Helen Mirren quoted at the end of her speech, they were from Act 4 Scene 1 of The Tempest. Helen Mirren played a female Prospero (Prospera) in the 2010 film version.
