Aye but they don't drink like we do over here

They have brandy for breakfast

I was as an au pair in Madrid... they drink but in weeny amounts compared to us, and diluted with food. Can you believe it! Puffs!

I like how they don't 'nanny' like they do over here.

I don't see it as a particularly  great business move - no doubt they'll charge a fortune though - but I don't see how it'll make anyone more likely to drink and drive.    Come off the Forth Bridge and you're less than a minute away from a hotel and a pub and a licensed restaurant - don't see the difference that it's officially the same location as the motorway services.    Would give those staying in a Travel Lodge a place to have a nicer evening though.

I agree with you Cosi but on this one issue I'd make an exception.

As opposed to many others?   What about drug driving?

Yeah but drugs are not being put on sale at an M40 service station.

Its just a bad bad idea i.m.o.

I had a close relative killed in a crash... back at the time they were saying the introduction of mandatory seatbelts was quite nanny state, but it was a small sacrifice to make.

Banning boozers at motorway rest stops is similar... a small sacrifice.

Sure, there are roadside pubs all over the country, but you don't come out of those and drive at high speeds like you would on a motorway.

Worse still they're being handed over willy nilly. I honestly know what you're saying, and both are as bad as each other TBH. It's about catching peeps in the act I think. There's sensible drinking, and there's daft drinking to my mind
