1. Bostin(g) is a well-known word meaning amazing, brilliant or excellent. The g is rarely written or pronounced. Bost is (like the similar word bust) slang for broken, and so the word bostin' means the same as 'smashing.'
This brought back memories. The first time I heard this word was when the Birmingham band We've Got A Fuzzbox and We're Gonna Use It!! (later shortened to plain "Fuzzbox") brought out their first album "Bostin' Steve Austin".
I love the Geordie slang. It has to be one of the best out there.
On the trousers/ankle subject we'd say your trousers aren't speaking to your ankles.
Despite living in Newcastle for over 12 years and only hailing from 20 miles south, I still have to ask Mr Cinds what some things mean.
One that sticks out is the term 'micey' when describing a person. It apparently means argumentative.
Not that I'm an expert, but I would think that makes a lot of sense.
When I first came over from Germany, we lived in lovely, lovely Scotland where I went for my messages (shopping) and stayed at the farm (lived) and so on. 
That's my favourite Scottish term, the use of the word 'stay' for live.
tHIS IS ONE i FIND HARD TO EXPLAIn ...............it's a Yorkie thing - Mr Woo's friend always says (when he's talking about someone in particular) - 'You know her - she's the one who used to work in the pub - they call her Jane'.
