My hands are killing me, the skin is cracking open and bleeding, I hate wearing gloves so it's my own fault anyway I want something that's not greasy as I hate hand cream and end up washing it off I'm using a Vaseline one at the moment and it's not working, I've got a bit on my wedding finger on the inside that splits open every time I bend my finger and it's

Awww...Aimee..I suffer with dry hands as well. I have found that Tescos own make is good. Also the Nivea hand cream is quite good.
Obviously something for sensitive skin then Aims but I dunno what
My hands aren't too good either, it's like I have a form of excma and I blame it on rubber gloves but I dunno.....
The Norwegian stuff is sposed to be good
L'occitane Shea Butter handcream is very good but quite pricey.

I think that's mentioned in the link I gave Aims I never have a problem, I just use moisturizing hand wash all the time and it seems to fend any problems off

I've used that especially as I walk to work now and am more exposed to the elements for longer. It works for me.
Cheers everyone I'll have a look at the links

I can't even wear them, they feel funny
The Clarins one is meant to be one of the best.. but its pricey.
When I can I use Evelyn & Crabtree ... Linky! This too costs ÂĢ13.. but I love it! It absorbs straight away (I hate sticky hand creams)... makes my hands feel & look ten years younger instantly.. and is effective enough to sort out the horrible sore eczema I get on my elbows!
If you can handle your hands being sticky for a little while after you apply... then two really really good ones for sore cracked hands are either Lush Dreamcream... we used to get this to treat the excema on my sons hands... when he played rugby they used to crack & bleed.. the doctor recommended dream cream. and it does work wonders. Its just not very pleasant to use.
Similarly.. Gyps once recommended The Body Shop Hemp Hand Cream - saying silmiar things about that.... not the nicest cream to use, but properly sorted out sore cracked hands.
Neither of those will break the bank either
Body Shop's hemp cream is great, really moisturising .Using an emollient like aqueous cream instead of soap will help as well ( and it;s really cheap! )
ohhh spooooky timing there !
My back up cream that I use when I haven't got the E&C one is the Garnier one from Tesco...
The SOS one is very good.. and these ones only cost about ÂĢ3 a go. So cheap enough to slather right up to me elbows.. and I even occasionally slap a bit on my feet... or my knees
Absorbs quickly... nice to use

Calendula cream Aimee.
Aveeno creams are pretty good for my sons eczema so I would guess they'd be good for your dry skin. But the best thing for cracks on his skins is a greasy mix of soft paraffin and liquid paraffin. Messy but good.
Cheers guys I'll read all the links in the morning, I'm putting plasters on but they fall off every time you wash your hands
Nivea all the way for me. It's sorted my skin throughout my life, hand, face, elbows, back of knees, the lot.
I hate wearing hand cream. Fortunately I don't suffer with dry skin - then again I'm not really one for getting stuck into anything heavy duty
I use E45.It's the cheapest and best.

I use that for my eczema - tis the only one that doesn't make me want to scratch it off again and I have 50% white paraffin and liquid paraffin which I use at night because it is so greasy but it's great stuff
I will try that Pengy
because when It starts Its unbearable, specially the itching

Pengy that's exactly what my son is using at the min...the paraffin is soooo good as a moisturiser and it really heals up those cracks. He's having a bad break out at the minute and is like that mummy up there ^^ . He's head to toe in bactroban/hydrocortisone/paraffin mix (looks exactly like the other mix) and then bandaged from toe to knee and fingers to above the elbows. So glad to have found this treatment as it isn't too harsh on his skin.

awww the poor little thing - we adults can just about cope with it but for kiddies it's awful - I remember as a kid just being thrown a tube of betnovate, some moisturiser and occasionally steroids
I hope his outbreak clears up soon
Aww Pengy it's a shame they weren't too interested in helping you back then. It's such a nightmare condition because the itching can drive you near insanity! My wee one didn't sleep through the night til he was nearly 4 because of it.....that drove ME to near insanity

I remember being in hospital with magazines strapped to my arms to stop me scratching - that would be classed as abuse these days

My mum uses betnovate, she covers her hands in it and then puts plastic bags over them before going to bed ny dad says all I hear all night is her crinkling
Anyone tried lard?

Pengy that's terrible! Did it even stop you? My wee boy was Houdini from a very young age. He could find a way to scratch no matter what we did but then I started sewing adult sized socks to the sleeves of his PJs and he'd take so long wrestling himself out of those for a scratch that I'd be awake and able to sort him out. He used to look so pleased with himself in the morning if he'd managed a way out and was sitting near naked covered in blood as if to say 'ha! I found a way!'
I can laugh now about it but it was heartbreaking to see how much he was suffering at the time. Luckily the doctors knew a bit more about it than magazines on the arms and would have some sort of relief for him....albeit short lived relief!
Anyone tried lard?
The chips turn out great in it.
