When their stories and morals are gone we are moving into chaos imo.

Their generation doesn't necessarily paint a picture of a better moral world donks. The wars and warmongering, the prejudice and cruelty do not leave a better life lesson than we have perhaps begun to learn.

This again! The good old days of institutionalised and constitutional sexism, racism and homophobia. When no one dared to speak of or report paedophiles and women deserved a good slap for not knowing their place. But at least they all said please and thank you and you could leave your door unlocked at night.

I think we pretty much still have all of that though ( bar the last bit ), though it's less overt and is changing . What I took from velvet's post was that the community / collective / looking out for each other thing is getting lost .

I didn't get that, to be honest. But I don't think it has been lost no matter what effects social and economic policy has had post-war. I feel like I'm a lesser or greater part of several communities. There's my professional working community, the community attached to all my kids' different schools, my immediate neighbourhood (where I am on first name terms with many), my church community (if I went more often) and my extended blood family.

Then there's this place for people who feel more comfortable engaging with the world from behind a screen. Lots of communities if you chose to get involved.
