TBF to Pete Townshend he was "researching for a book" he was writing.

Providing the allegations are investigated in a proper manner - no, I don't think so. Looking at the Operation Yewtree and related investigations as a whole: if we were talking about a lot of "small" alleged offences, and none of them subsequently stuck in court, then there might be a case to call "witch hunt", but in fact there have been some very serious allegations, and there have been convictions already (e.g. Stuart Hall). I don't think you can have a "statute of limitations" - whether official or unofficial - on these sort of offences.

As for Gambaccini: it's not a nice thing to say, but like Garage Joe I've also been waiting for his name to come up in this context for a while now...

Errr nope,  almost as if there never was a book in the first place.

Apropos Townshend's book! It was published in time for last Christmas. My son bought me it.
Whilst it was certainly better than the unofficial biographies I found it rather dark in places.
His parents were professional musicians and away a lot. Pete found himself being looked after by one shady relation in particular and catalogues a series of sexual abuse and names names. I believe one reviewer called it a self-pitying book. I thought it a better read than Keef, but am looking forward to Robert Planet and Morrisey this time around.
