We still need six! It's a bit depressing mind. You may have heard that when he was diagnosed he announced the result in a crossword.
Amongst the answers in this one are, Comfy. COttage Hospital, nil by mouth, time to go.

as usual I've not got a clue but I do have a friend that won one of these Crosswords about 2 weeks ago. . assuming it is the same thing. . and the setters name seems familiar...

That's ties in with the clue so it is ORISON.

One of the other clues was a Burns reference!

Remove island prey of Burns' devil. We had exciseman for that. But even though we googled Mary, we could not find Orison! Did not recognise the term!
