Emma Willis confirmed as new host of The Voice

The Voice for 2014

Her appointment comes after previous hosts Reggie Yates and Holly Willoughby announced that they would not be returning for the show’s third series.

In a statement released by the BBC, Emma said that she was looking forward to getting started on the ‘brilliant’ programme.

‘The Voice is an absolutely brilliant TV show with the unique ability to showcase and nurture amazing raw talent.’

‘I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it and I cannot wait to get started’ she added.

A co-host for Willis will be announced at some point next week.

I doubt it Aimee she has been in the Hub on this Morning all thru the summer while presenting BB. . Holly did the voice while presenting This Morning.. Seems like she's taking anything to up her profile..

she needs to smoke a carton of marlboro to get rid of her screechy voice   if she wants to go mainstream. .shame Davina hasn't learnt to stop the shouty screechy thing yet ..

Not my sort of show but good luck to Emma.  It's been a good few years for her.  IMO, she's not really put a foot wrong.  Just the right side of adult humour on shows like BBBOTS, naturally witty and more personable in interviews in a way Davina has never been.  Able to rein it in when required,

Totally agree with all that.

I prefer the more adult Emma that hosts the BB entrance and evictions/interviews of hm's to the Emma that presents BOTS where she shouts, swears, fluffs her lines and pretends to be part of the younger generation. On The Voice I think we'll see the more adult Emma. Whether I watch it or not having seen it before, maybe, maybe not

When is The Voice on?   i don't think it's likely to clash with BB anyway is it?

Can't remember what it said now, I think it was something like it starts January but that will be pre recorded as its just the audition stages.and the live shows are later and they are Saturday night's where BB is Friday's, I thought the BBC might have wanted her to give BB up to do it but then again Holly works on both sides

The Voice UK host Emma Willis will stay on Celebrity Big Brother

Emma Willis [Big Brother)
  •

New host of The Voice UK Emma Willis ‏has insisted she’ll still be fronting Celebrity Big Brother despite her new job.

The BBC confirmed yesterdayThe Voice 2014 will see a new hosting line up after Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yatesquit.

The pair will be replaced by Emma and a new, yet to be announced, male co host.

In a statement released, Emma said: “The Voice is an absolutely brilliant TV show with the unique ability to showcase and nurture amazing raw talent.

“I couldn’t be more excited to a part of it and I cannot wait to get started.”

Her predecessor Holly commented: “After much consideration, I will not be returning for series three of The Voice UK. I’ve had two wonderful years on the show, and I feel very privileged to have been a part of it.”

Tweeting her fans after the news was released yesterday, Emma wrote: “I am insanely excited to be joining the team @BBCTheVoiceUK What a bonkers year it’s been… Can’t wait to get started!!!”

Naturally, the announcement sparked speculation this would mean the end of Emma on Big Brother, having replaced Brian Dowling as the main host only this summer.

However, she insisted in a second tweet to her followers: “I’m so overwhelmed by your lovely messages re #thevoiceuk thank you so much. And for those asking, ill absolutely still be on Big Brother. ”

Celebrity Big Brother will air again in January on Channel 5, the same time as Series Three of The Voice begins.

However, the Voice’s blind audition shows are pre-recorded and are being filmed next month, allowing Emma to host Celebrity Big Brother before the Voice live finals start later in the Spring.

Why did the other two leave?

I like the concept better than X-Factor and I like Tom Jones, the other three not at all. As far as a sinking ship goes, I suspect the people leaving have raised their profile to a point where they want to exploit it further outside the confines of the show.

The Voice UK: hiring Kylie and Emma Willis is "the last throw of the dice"

The hiring of Kylie Minogue and Emma Willis represents a "last throw of the dice" for talent show The Voice, according to a BBC source.

The Corporation is contracted to broadcast one more series of the show, which has never quite ignited the ratings as it would have liked, and it is understood that hiring a new coach in Kylie, and replacing host Holly Willoughby with Big Brother presenter Emma Willis, could represent the final attempt to bring it back to life.

“If this doesn't work nothing will,” said the source. “We have already changed the format and had more of the swivel chair action and the format cannot be changed any more.

“We will see if new personalities can inject more life into the show.”

Despite early success in the ratings for the first series, viewers soon fell away as the programme failed to compete against ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.  A similar pattern emerged in season two where the average audience ratings dropped from 9.2m to 7.6m.

The BBC has committed to a third series beginning in January, but to nothing beyond that.

A spokeswoman confirmed that The Voice was on a rolling contract which is renewed each year but declined to comment on the notion that the recent changes represented a final chance for the show.

Willis will replace Willoughby while co-host, Radio 1 DJ Reggie Yates, will also leave. His replacement has yet to be announced.

It has already been confirmed that two of the four original coaches, Jessie J and Script frontman Danny O’Donoghue won’t return for the third run of the music show, with big name signing Minogue filling one of the vacant slots.

The fourth seat alongside Tom Jones and will.i.am is still available and the BBC is currently hoping to lure a big name.

Based on a Dutch format, The Voice UK has cost the Corporation a reported £22m for the two series aired to date.

I'm not sure what level of ratings the BBC were looking for, but week April 09 - April 15 the ratings were at 12 Million viewers !!!!

The week after just short of 11.5 Million viewers.

Although they did start to sink after that point. So for me it was more about sustainability - what made the ratings slide?

Could be that it's one too many 'talent' show. X-Factor saw a drop in viewing figures last year too.

I thought the viewing figures were quite good too, there is a lot of reality TV these days that people probably are getting fed up of the same thing year in year out, you only have to look at X factor this year, we've seen most of the contestants before, the group that I know the mum of one of them has auditioned 3 times to my knowledge

I was reading a news item today that was saying the US version of X-Factor is struggling and the Big Brother figures are better.
