Fluffers my iPad and iphone has a full qwerty keyboard and will change all sorts of words regardless, so the theory of letters on certain keys doesn't work anymore.

Sounds more like AutoCorrect or AutoFill, rather than predictive, but as I have no experience of either machine, I couldn't be definite about that. However, whatever it is, you should have the option to turn it off. I know some of these options are well buried in some machines/browsers though.
