I have problems with both my cooker and dishwasher - both under a year old. It's all very strange really. I think I'm gonna struggle for help as I bought online from a company called Laskys (apparently part of the Comet group who've gone into admin).

The Cooker is a Leisure - I have a contact number for them but I have no receipt of purchase at the moment (very odd as I can't find the e mail confirmation) - I thought the accountant might have been sent a copy but he can find no trace either.

As for the dishwasher - it's a Proline which apparently is/was part of Comet.

I was kind of hoping that they would be under warranty - i can't contact Laskys for a copy invoice and it's all gone a bit pear shaped. Personally .............I blame Aimee but - has anyone got any suggestions?

GET PROTECTION IF THE COMPANY YOU BUY FROM GOES BUST

Buy something costing over ÂĢ100 on a credit (NOT debit) card, and under theSection 75 law, your lender is jointly liable with the retailer. If the company goes kaput and you can't contact it about problems or any other issue, you have exactly the same consumer rights with the card company as you do with the retailer to get money back or compensation.

Credit card spending protection

This applies even if you only pay a deposit on the card. Buy a ÂĢ3,000 TV and pay just 10p on the credit card and, they'll hate us for telling you, but the card company's liable for the whole ÂĢ3,000.

So if you're ordering an expensive product, do it on a credit card for safety, though of course ALWAYS pay it off in full to avoid interest. For more info including what counts as "spending ÂĢ100" and how to make a claim, see the fullSection 75 & Visa Chargeback guide.

Don't know if this help but I found this on http://storage.comet.co.uk/www...html/questions.htm#6

  1. An item I bought on or before 2 November 2012, from Comet for which I have an Extracare plan/extended warranty. The item has become faulty, who do I contact?
If you have purchased either an ExtraCare Service Plan or an Extended Warranty, these are provided by a third party (The Warranty Group) and are unaffected by the Administration of Comet Group Limited.

Your ExtraCare Service Plan/ Warranty will remain in full effect and will continue to provide protection for your product. You should contact the Comet Customer Support Centre on 0844 800 95 95 and select option 3 and follow the voice prompts which will direct you to the relevant repair agent.
  2. An item I bought on or before 2 November 2012, from Comet but I don't have Extracare/extended warranty cover. The item has become faulty, who do I contact?
If your product develops a fault inside the period of its warranty, please contact the manufacturer direct or the manufacturer's warranty provider.

For Comet branded goods, you should contact the Comet Customer Support Centre on 0844 800 95 95 and select option 3 and follow the voice prompts which will direct you to the relevant repair agent.

No products are able to be refunded with the exception of Comet branded goods, which can only be exchanged if deemed to be non-repairable.

I feel your pain Soozy, we bought ALL our kitchen appliances and TV from a local shop when we got our first home.  TV broke within 8 months so they replaced it, which broke again within another 5 months but because our initial purchase was over a year old they wouldn't do anything.  They shut up shop less than 2 months later and within a year and a half of us having them,  the cooker, washing machine and drier all went bang.

Hope you get something sorted

Ells

Thank you all ...............I've managed to get the cooker sorted - i rang the manufacturers and the clock wasn't set after a power cut (believe it or not that affect one of the ovens). It broke a couple of weeks ago but I've been using the second oven.

As for the dishwasher ...i'm off to a site now - following a link from Els info

Thank you

And Aimee - I'm only kidding i love you really

I always get the blame and I have no idea why

Aimee

I thought I'd got my cooker sorted - I haven't. Got to start again with the phone calls (my life is just too exhausting).

As for the dishwasher - I don't think there's much I can do - I read the page that Wl Loro posted - the make Proline is a Comet own brand - don't think there's any cover. I will get my sons handyman friend to have a look at it but ...............maybe it'll mean a new dishwasher. It certainly pays to buy a good brand IMO - it's just that I was buying everything at once and cut corners on that

I do miss my dishwasher - my nail polish looks awful all chipped - it really isn't on

Apparently not El - it was a 'comet' own brand - imported from abroad - there is no after sales service. I can apparently get it fixed than then put in a claim to the creditors but that's about it. The thing is ........I don't even have proof of purchase - very strange indeed as I keep all my e mails. I have an e mail asking me to rate my purchase and I have another one saying would I like to purchase what I'd recently put into my basket. I thought I'd sent a copy to our accountant but I hadn't. Also it was bought on a company debit card NOT credit card.

I suppose if I really dug my heels in and did a bit of detective worlk I might get something but ............don;t know really. Apparently the parts are difficult to come by as it is a foreign manufacturer who were making this dishwasher exclusively for Comet (laskys) who are now no more.

Soozy, you are right. I've seen the notice from the administrators of Comet confirming that the ordinary warranty will not be met for Proline items as they were from abroad. They do say that you can apply as an unsecured creditor to the administrators for the cost of repairs.

The link to their creditors letter is:

http://www.deloitte.com/view/e...00003456f70aRCRD.htm

The PDF file there includes the proof of debt form and a questionaire which you would have to complete.

However I think you are unlikely to get any of the money back as the Directors Statement of Affairs shows that there is a deficit of funds for the secured creditors meaning that there is nothing left for the unsecured creditors though it does say they would pay them 1p in the pound under the proposals.

I've taken this from this link

which goes into much greater detail.

Thank you El ............I didn't do the 'heavier' reading but I think it is a bit of a lost cause. I'm hoping it may be simple to fix - until now I haven't allowed anyone to tamper with it but now I don't seem to have anything to lose.

It's an integrated model and the control panel is on the top - I pressed one of the buttons and it sort of collapsed into itself.
