The actress and singer's husband Steve Doneathy revealed that her health took a turn for the worse as they visited friends in Blackpool last month, adding that their Surrey home was burgled while she sought treatment.
"A nurse took me into another room, and told me we were looking at an end-of-life situation," he told the Sunday Mirror. "My whole world turned upside down in a second.
"We knew she was poorly, but for it to be bang, just like that, was unbelievable. I didn't know what to do, so I cried. I went in and said, 'The doctors think you're very, very poorly, and you're not getting better'.
"She said, 'Am I going to die?' I told her yes. She was quiet. She didn't say anything for about 30 seconds. And then she said, 'F**k'. She was quietly angry. And then we cried, hugged and said we loved each other."
Doctors reportedly decided to stop chemotherapy to spare her needless pain, after a brain scan showed her tumours were not responding to treatment.
The criminals stole a watch Nolan gave to Doneathy as a wedding present, a car and a TV, as well as smashing a memory box she kept of her stillborn baby Kate.
The couple finally made it home last Wednesday and have discussed the situation with their daughter Erin, 13.
"The idea of curing it or treating it, or making it smaller isn't there now. She could have gone to a hospice until the end, but she wanted to come home. We have no idea how long that might be," Doneathy added.
"Bernie is a strong girl with a will of steel and a big heart. She's still got some fire in her belly. If anyone can keep on going, it's Bernie. She's amazing."
How very sad to read that she has lost her fight with cancer.
What low life does such a thing,I hope they get nothing but bad luck and that Karma comes back to bite them in the ass.
