From the way you have described the incident, it sounds like a bit of larking about which went a wee bit far.

I can't understand why the teacher felt the need to report the matter to the Head, as she had accepted lil Aimee's apology - unless she was afraid lil Aimee would report the other girl for assault.

To suggest going to the police is something of an over-reaction, imo. I can just see the charge sheet "causing injury by throwing tiny tub of tomato sauce". 

I'd be surprised if the girls get anything more than a stern ticking off, but if the worst happens, I'd certainly lodge an appeal.

BTW, make sure the girl who recorded the incident, doesn't delete the video, as it proves they were only larking about and it was not an aggressive action.

I can only really echo what Yogi has said Aims. It certainly sounds like a bit of an over reaction but people seem to always be covering their backs these days (not in sauce).

In the recording what exactly is the teacher doing while the girls are being 'so dangerous'? If she was sat there not trying to calm the situation then it's her that's at fault surely? Those girls were in her care, if she wasn't happy with how they were behaving she should have done something about it there and then if it was bad enough (in her eyes) to get them kicked out of collage!

 

Has the video been made public online? I suspect that's maybe why the teacher has taken this action, she's embarrassed by it and trying to save face 

I did ask Lil Aims if they had uploaded the video anywhere and she said no, also in the video you can't see the teacher till after she has been hit with the sauce and tbh it doesn't look like she has any on her.

 

RE the police I am also wondering if they said it to the other girls parents in case we wanted to press chargers of assault, which we don't as it wasn't meant in that way, I was first assuming it was the teacher that was trying to say Lil Aims had assaulted her, still not heard anything so it might be the other girl that has got into trouble more for starting it

It will probably all blow over. Hopefully anyway. However if you feel that your child's educational future is at risk then in your place I would certainly discuss it with a solicitor and let them do any talking, negotiating or whatever.

That's the action I am going to take Joe if they are wanting to take it further, I will have to wait to hear from them to see what course they are going to take, she is an A grade student who hasn't missed a day of the course so i'm hoping they take all this into consideration

Aimee I think they'll know that it wasn't your daughter who started it and understand that none of it was intended as assault. It's a bit of typical teen malarkey that's got out of hand. I too would wait for the meeting, and go from there. Copy that video to your hard drive though, just in case you need it Let us know what happens and please try not to worry too much, your daughter will have a good rep among the teachers

Also- when I was I college I once got in trouble because I with a group of friends who were playing frisbee in the canteen. I wasn't in the game myself (too lazy back then) but waiting for a ride home.. One of the teachers went mad at us and took all our details. My course head called me into her office the next day and couldn't believe the story because I was a model student.. I explained what had happened and she dismissed the whole incident, she knew I wasn't a troublesome person

Seems a bit extreme to talk of involving police,unless more went on than you know,hope all goes okay.

Seems like the school have overreacted to me Aimee... and like Jen says, where was the teacher when it all kicked off!!! Anyway, I hope it all gets sorted out , and that your daughter doesn't get into any trouble

She's been interviewed and they say there are more disappointed with Lil Aims because she was team captain and she should have stopped any messing around where was the teachers then they have read Lil Aims twitter account and she had tweeted that they were knocking on next doors door and running off but the boys next door were doing the same (silly girl for tweeting it) I also know a teacher tweeted that he was having a stella

 

They will let her know in due course what her punishment is, they have read everyones twitter accounts and have now found out that the boys went clubbing when they should have stayed in the hotel looks like the teachers have a lot to answer to never mind the pupils

Its an enormous overreaction Aimee  Can't imagine how a harmless play fight [ if that - and which your daughter didn't start ] is grounds for throwing her out of college or any punishment. Especially a bright student with a great attendance record.

 

Maybe the teacher worried she may be disciplined for not keeping control and portrayed herself as the victim somehow? Maybe there's some health and safety rule she's mis-applying? Anyway its ridiculous.

 

The main thing to be considered in law is if any action is considered reasonable. The school wouldn't be acting reasonably by taking it any further and certainly not by involving police. Its nonsense!

 

I feel very sorry for your daughter Aimee. It seems most unfair and putting unnecessary stress on her young shoulders when she should be concentrating on her studies.

I've not read any replies to your opening post, Aimee (no disrespect forum chums).  Stuff like this makes me so fed up with the UK - and everywhere else in general.... Kids/people arse around meaning no harm. Yeah, it's silly stuff, idiotic behaviour...but not malice intended.  Why the F this has got anything to do with the police is beyond me.
