Surely no-one wants to/can aford to win this year. Given all the austerity measures?

Someone watching the one show???

I don't like that we pay into it. I would rather that money be spent keeping F1.

In 2008, the BBC defended using spending money from licence fee payers for the contest when Liberal Democrat MP Richard Younger-Ross had tabled a Commons motion which called on the corporation to withdraw its £173,000 funding for the annual contest. That same year former Eurovision commentator Sir Terry Wogan claimed that the show is "no longer a music contest" after the result was announced.

Bonnie Tyler woo woo!

Moonie

If you believe the mail online, in 2012 the cost to the BBC of entering was £310,000. The argument the BBC put forward is balance against how much actually programming material you get and the level of the spectacle, it's quite good value.

We pay, so does Germny, France and the rest. We have a chance this year.
Bonnie Tyler will do it.

If previous years are any gauge, I'm willing to bet something substantial that we don't do well at all.

Many have tried tried to emulate Bonnie Rait's song "I Can't Make You Love Me" no one comes close to her version imo  Brits taking part in Eurovision is a kiss of death
