I'm about to hit the hay, but I've got this problem where I keep getting blocked from copying images and vids and also having messages posted in blank spaces saying 'plug-in blocked'. Can someone tell me how to unblock this? I'll be very happy to start trying to sort this out tomorrow.

I'm not much help, but googling brings up great tech sites or use search on your pc to bring up the answer?
On google, enclose your search terms in inverted commas with + in between to narrow results eg:
"MAC OS X" + "version 10.6.8" + "plug-in blocked"

It sounds like your OS is out of date and not supported by the browsers/plugins any more. The latest version of OS X is 10.8.3 - I get the same messages on my laptop, I'm just too lazy to fix it 
Firefox still works for me.
Xochi, Apple disabled the Java web plug in on the 4th of this month on older versions as they found a vulnerability in it.
You need to have a look at their page on this:

It looks as if you will need to install all available updates via their software update which you will find by clicking on the relevant link on that page.
I'm not a Mac user so can't help any further. If you have any doubts on what to do, ask someone with technical experience to sort it out for you.
Xochi, before doing anything more complicated, try just updating your software, (click on apple top left for drop down,) and also making sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash player and that all old versions are deleted.That worked for me

Yep, go for the "check updates" first.
Although my iMac checks and alerts me to updates automatically.

. Yep, I did try that thanks to soops' advice but there were no updates needed. I reckon it must be the OS update I need.
