I'm at the coughing stage

Oh dear  I really hope it doesn't develop into what I or hubby had. I used a good cough medicine for that, Vocal Zone pastilles and lemon and honey for my throat, it took 2 days before I stopped coughing every 10 minutes and experiencing that awful pain each time. I still cough very occasionally but nothing like before and no pain, yaay! For me the sleepiness and lack of energy has lasted longer. I had a bath earlier and felt quite energised afterwards so thought it was over. Then I sat on the couch to watch tv and within an hour felt sooo sleepy again and fell asleep for 3 hours...I never have naps afternoon or evening. Oh well I do believe that sleep is restorative to the body so if it needs more than usual I'll go with the flow lol. Wishing you well soon

Just a personal opinion Saint so ignore if needed but I'd never use a nasal spray for nasal congestion, I really recommend Olbas Oil from the chemist/Boots. Hope you're well soon

Olbas oil is very good, I've used it many times Here's my remedies for shaking off a cold/flu, it's not for everyone but works every time for me; Bath every night with the following; 2 drops of tea tree oil, 3 drops of lavender and 3 drops of black pepper oil (mixed in a little splash of a carrier oil such sweet almond) The tea tree helps the immune system, as does the lavender but that'll help with the aches, the black pepper will help you sweat out the virus! Every night drink this; squeeze the juice of a lemon into a mug, add a shot of brandy, pour in hot water and add as much honey as you like Then go straight to bed and stay there! It might get sweaty but it'll get you better

I love pure tea tree oil and make sure I always have some, I always add a few drops to the bath water, I love lavender oil as well, hmmm just realised I ran out of it last week so need more, my brain's like mush lately lol  so thanks for the reminder  Hubby only occasionally eats fruit but when he was ill as well as using squeezed lemon with added honey several times I also squeezed the juice of 3 large oranges for natural Vit C making sure the orange pulp was also added and he loved it, especially when he had thirsts for cold drinks. I never buy nasal sprays since learning years ago they're just a quick fix for a short time so have to keep using them. A few drops of Olbas Oil on a tissue or on the pillow case to ease congestion at night has much better results.

I too wish everyone well very soon who's been hit by cold/cough/flu bugs

I sympathise with your really heavy cold, but you do not have the flu. A real flu victim wouldn't even have the energy or the inclination to post on a forum.

I always remember my doctor when I was a teenager saying to me the difference between a really bad cold and the flu is, if you saw a tenner on the floor with a cold you'd still bend down to pick it up, with a flu, you wouldn't even be out of bed to see it never mind pick it up.
