Yeah: Barra airport's famous. The beach is popular with cockle pickers, so it can be a bit of a problem...

Must be similar to Morecombe beach then. 

They are all scary.

My niece and her partner are going to her cousins wedding on Barra in July,,they have booked a flight from Glasgow,they know it's a small prop plane and a beach landing....oh and the Glasgow to Barra plane was struck by lightning on Wednesday! All was well.

I landed at Kai Tak airport in Hong Kong, the summer [1994] I spent teaching English. Imagine a plane touching down in London's Oxford Street - buildings freakily close on either side. Pilots had to have a special licence to land there.  

 

Those pics, especially Saint Martin and Nepal airports look worse though - downright dangerous!! 

Awww I wanna click the link but I'm a scaredy pants and hate flying so I think I'd be best not to.  Unless it's just scary landing strips and not actual flight horror stories?

I'm like Ells although I flew once and willn't be flying again, ever. However I did enjoy a documentary about peepil who hung onto fences as planes revved up.
