I'm not surprised at this, when you see, for example, the amount of cream that Nigella uses, or the olive oil that Jamie glugs into his food.

however, I do cook from scratch most days, it is cheaper and healthier than ready meals ... except perhaps, at I cook much bigger portions that I would have if I'd have bought he food ready made.

Oh dear ... perhaps they are right then

I bought their hairy biker diet book.  Very very good.

I've just hear this article being talked about on radio 2.  It doesn't surprise me at all, I remember a recent TV show (and when I say recent it means in the last 5 years) about how Prince Charles organic range of foods was actually more unhealthy than McDonalds.

I heard that too. It was his range of soups if memory serves. I think they had enough salt in them to grit the M1  !!!

James Martin seems to use an extraordinary amount of butter in his recipies on TV, can't say how much in his books. But when I watch these cookery programmes, I often think that the dishes they cook can only be eaten on an infrequent period, even the one's which look healthy.

Like some of you, I have been cooking from scratch and try to have as few "bad ingredients" as possibly. I've not cooked or used salt for 15 years now.

Tonight it's going to be brown rice with stir fried vegetables and a small amount of turkey.

And you'd be right.  But he admits to it and is often heard saying he's doing a "Yorkshire" version i.e. loading up the fats and serving 'mansized' portions

The one who has me open mouthed when she's adding salt etc., is Ina Garten. Unbelieveable!  The woman ladles it in like there's no tomorrow.

Cookery forums complain all her food has no flavour (she's big on talking about flavour) and is way too salty

I'm a Yorkshireman and like a good portion, but sometimes our Jim even makes me feel inadequate at my ability to put it away with his "Yorkshire" portion sizes.

I have not heard of Ina Garten! I must be well out of touch. Is she on TV?

Ditto.

It was only recently that I realised it was a food programme

Ha ha ha

She's very voluptuous with come to bed eyes

Not wanting to descend into unsavoury comments that may offend some of our fellow forum members.

Nigella for me is a proper woman. I do like a brunette with as you say alluring eyes. The fact she can cook some tasty food is the icing on the cake.

OK, OK, I get the message, my change of avvie is not popular. I will hunt out a new one tomorrow (I have to slope off and do the pots & get ready for bed - early night).

Yeah, but on one of the foody channels on Sky.

She mesmerises me and not in a good way.  It's jaw drop stuff

All very Hamptons and twee; if she cooks for 3 friends she calls it a "partaaaaaaaaaay"

She's brilliantly dreadful

Cover your eyes, Erin (I like your avi, EC)

Thanks, that explains why I have not seen or heard of her. I don't have Sky. She sounds a right character though!

Cheers on the avvie change, erin's not been around so I may be cheeky and leave it another day or two
