Today Mr Woo was chatting to someone on the phone about dropping a delivery off. The guy on the other end said ..............

'Drop it at the first gate - do you know the guy on the gate?'

Mr Woo said -' yeah - the Chinese guy?'

the guy said 'You can't say that!!!'

Am I really out of touch? Was it a wrong thing to say? Surely it's like saying - the guy with glasses, the ginger guy, the Scottish guy etc.?

Isn't it?

No .....and Mr Woo was a bit taken aback and embarrassed that he'd said something really wrong so he didn't ask ........I'll be honest Mr Woo very often gets it very wrong and says the most inappropriate things but on this occasion - I can't see what was wrong.

I think if he'd have said "chinky" then yes, it would have been out of order, but "Chinese guy" no I don't think so- unless he's Japanese or such, and strongly dislikes the Chinese.. "Asian man" have been more PC but who really knows? The world has gone mad I certainly don't think hubby was being racist, I Hope he's not upset about it at all

Nah ............just puzzled. He's pretty thick skinned really which is just as well cos he has been known to come out with some bloopers.

Not long ago a farmer came into the shop accompanied by someone (he's a regular customer) - Mr Woo said

'Hiya - is this your oldest lad?

....................................................... Long Silence

'No - this is my wife'

There are umpteen more stories like that.
