I can't remember whether you were going the day before or the day after us. But I've just got home and they were BRILLIANT!
Mr C is the one that bought the tickets, but I almost burst in to tears when they did 'Electric Dreams'

Hi Cinds,
Were you going to the Newcastle concert? If so I was at their Sheffield hometown show the day before.
They certainly were good. A nice mix of songs old and new (and a Gorgio Moroder song not many knew). I liked Phil's changes of clothes especially those strange sunglasses come headgear!! Always enjoy THL and this was no different. I can see them gigging on for another decade. The show was a sell out too. I had friends join me from Birmingham and Manchester.
Did you hear about the set malfunction? I'm calling it "chain- gate". As the set rose to reveal the band, one of the chains lifting the set dropped through the bottom right section of the set nearly hitting Joanne. They all carried on, but that could have been a disaster if it had hit her.
That aside I really enjoyed the evening.
I have managed to find a clip of the incident (see link below).
Keep your on the bottom right square of the set, you will see the chains fall just behind Susan.

Cheers, like the last one it will only last a few days (I'm missing the purple mobius bands).

Nice little video you posted there.
The ironic thing is I was in Waterstones today and overheard a boy telling his Dad about the Mobius Strip! What a strange coincidence.
You may find this other link I found of interest too. Lots of live videos uploaded onto YouTube.

Just watched the video EC, that's shocking. The set was changed the next night in Newcastle, I had laughed at the black giant table cloth that was in front of the set before they came on, obviously the chain incident was the reason why. This is what the stage looked like for us before they came on.

They started our gig with the same black cloth Cinds, I think it is to both hide the set and give "The Penelopes" something of a backdrop for their set.
Wished I had taken a picture from my seat to post, but I forgot. I find it quite amusing seeing all the balding heads in shot, my how those 30 odd years have flown!!
Judging from the angle of your photo, you were seated on the same side as me except I was in the first gallery not the stalls.
I will take a photo next year
Oh right, we didn't watch the Penelope's. The set was different to the video, because we didn't have the cubes that rose up, just the ones on the bottom.
I was laughing at all the bald spots too, hilarious.

Hi Cinds,
You did not really miss anything, IMO the Penelope's were not that good and the singer was a bit mad (I think he had a Jimi Hendrix fascination).
I see, you are right then, the cubes must have been removed on H&S grounds. Again, all they did was rise up!
I hope you were not laughing at them at the gig
EC I had an amazing time, like I said it was more Mr C that wanted to go, but I loved it all. The music, the dresses, the bald heads, the 80's dancing, everything.
Someone had dragged their 10/11 year old boy there, and he was brilliant, he bopped his way through the whole show

I too noticed a few youngsters in the crowd. I have seen that at a few shows now, it looks like the parents are "bringing on" the next generation of fans!
On Friday I purchased a ticket to see Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. They are playing in May 2013.
