Just wanted to pass on a lesson I learnt today. Been trying to get a parcel delivered by a company called MyYodel.co.uk. Had a card dropped through my door on the 13th saying they tried but failed to deliver my parcel (I was at work).

They have subsequently tried to deliver nearly everyday up to and including 17th November. Now on the website it states that they tried and failed but left a card on each occasion - no they did not.

I was in all day on the 16th and 17th, particularly the times they said they tried to deliver.

So I called them on their 20p per minute line, explained above and pretty much said they are telling porkies regarding their delivery attempts.

So now they have agreed to deliver on an agreed time and date - we shall see.

Having done a bit of interweb research I have found they are a bit rubbish and have a bad rep.

I'm now checking which couriers companies use from now on. I don't want to use these cowboys again.

I think you are right SazBomb - I seem to recall they used to be called something like HDNL which seems to fit what you say.

Further update - Try and avoid Hermes too. I am having similar issues getting them to make a simple delivery (I live at the edge of a city!!).

The self employed delivery agents working under the umbrella companies like Hermes and MyYodel don't want to leave their contact details on their cards - as they are not that committed to their business, and does not help the customer one bit.

DPD has to be the best ever. They are so good they even allow you to change delivery dates by text. They have never failed me and delivery almost to the minute they say they will. When I see they are the couriers I breathe a massive sigh of relief.

Oh yeah, Hermes are pants too I tend to get stuff sent to work now, at least someone is always there to sign for it

Must agree with that - they're wonderful.      I've never had any problem with Hermes though .... luckily I haven't experienced Yodel.

Yes Erinp. It does say something in the bubble.

It says "For one day only a change of avatar" but when I created it I realised it was too small !!

Have you had a change too?

So, I left work early today so that I could be in my home for a planned delivery from 5pm onwards.

MyYodel.co.uk have failed to turn up, so that is delivery attempt number 6. I have been in for three of them.

They really are living up to their shocking reputation.

I will call again tomorrow at 20p per minute to try and get a 7th delivery date.

Only just seen this EC ...that's appalling !!! I hope you give them hell once you get through ! I think it took three attempts for our package last year , and I thought that was bad enough ! I even tried to circumvent the phone charges by booking a delivery on line , but that didn't work either, so good luck . Hope it's 7th time lucky !

You should complain to the company you bought the goods from. I did that when (I think it was Yodel actually) just chucked a parcel outside my friend's house. They left it in the middle of the lawn, in full view and didn't bother to put a card through the door She doesn't use the front door so it was sitting there overnight in the rain, I was fuming

Thats a disgrace EC, sorry about that

I suspect thats why HDNL recently rebranded themselves as MyYodel - if you google HDNL all you got was forums and blogs complaining about them. Their reputation was shocking..

I don't know if you can get the number of the local depot [not their national "customer services"  line ] They don't give it out but with a little searching on google you could find it. Customers so fed up with them have posted the list of depot numbers so you can get through and complain.

The worst thing is if you need to leave your telephone number eg in case your property is hard to find, they say their delivery drivers don't carry mobile phones. What kind of delivery driver doesn't carry a mobile?

I notice Amazon used to use them but my last delivery it was DPD and Citilink.

Do any of these numbers help? - http://www.saynoto0870.com/companysearch.php

I refuse to phone any premium rate numbers now. Bloody cheek!

Blizz'ard

EC I found a list of HDNL depots' telephone numbers - though they've changed their name to MyYodel I'd imagine the numbers are the same. I had to ring my local depot to get anywhere with them.

Its really long to post [6 pages C+P'd into wordpad ]- if you tell me what town/area you are in I could go down the list and find it.

Apparently some depot numbers are on yell.com too.

Unfortunately your post sounds very common practice by this company. Up till now I did not know which company I was waiting a delivery from (lots of orders in the pipeline). But as of today I know and will be getting back to them as you say.

Yes, I have Googled them and saw way too many back reviews and complaints!

Ironically I saw an old HDNL van as I walked to work.

I have found the local depot thanks, b en researching them. They don't seem to want to be contacted do they!

My last amazon delivery (Today) was via Royal Mail - Thank goodness.

I will be spreading the bad word about this imbeciles. Hopefully I may make a small dent in their profits.

No probs EC. Sorry for the carp you went through. Go kick up a stink

Theres an excellent piece on Moneysavingexpert entitled

"Failed Delivery? Fight Back!'If I waste a day, you'll pay'"

http://www.moneysavingexpert.c...ping/delivery-rights

Also the forums there are widely read and confirm the problems with Yodel/HDNL

HDNL = Hide it. Drop it. Never arrive. Lie about it.

FM

I had a parcel delivered to me  by yodel, it was fine, arrived when they said it would, signed for it and they left.

I was happy.

Had one today delivered by hermes, who I had never heard of before, they  were a day late but I left a note on the door to leave the parcel on the doorstep and they did, and it's fine(I knew if I went out they'd turn up and I knew I'd only be a few minutes to nip to the bank)

I'm still happy.
