After eight years on our screens ITV, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean today announced that the 2014 series of Dancing on Ice will be the last.
ITVβs Director of Television, Peter Fincham said: βDancing on Ice has been a firm favourite with viewers and we all have every intention of going out on a high next year.β
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean said: βNext year will be the 30th anniversary of Bolero and our Olympic Gold medal in Sarajevo and for us, it seemed a fitting time to say goodbye to Dancing on Ice. We wanted to go out on a high.
"We have loved every minute of the eight series and weβre determined to make our final series the best ever."
For those of you fretful to see Torvill and Dean hanging up their skates, fear not. The skating duo went on to reveal: "Skating will very definitely continue for us both. There will also be a final Dancing on Ice live UK arena tour, starting in March next year. We are already planning it and there will be some great surprises for audiences across the country.β
Peter Fincham added: "Torvill and Dean are the most successful ice dancing partnership of our generation and brought huge integrity, skill and professionalism to the show and with their departure, it feels like the series has reached its natural end."
The final series of Dancing on Ice will be back in January 2014 to warm up your winter nights and promises to be the biggest and best ever.

Thanks for the info, MrsH.
I'm not surprised though, as the show seems to have run out of steam.
I agree yogi I thought the last series was very dull

It was, Aimee. The format has become tired and jaded.

I agree with you both, sad to say because I have enjoyed the show. We have seen some wonderful ice dancers but it is better for it go out and leave us wanting more I suppose.
My personal favourites, Suzanne Shaw, Ray Quinn, Kieron Bracken and Hayley Tamadon.

Yep - the new format was so boring. I'm glad they've taken the decision tbh, because I know I'd continue to watch and just get annoyed with it!
