I'm so close to chucking this phone out of the window because nothing with it is simple

If I purchase a song via Itunes, how do I make that my ring tone.  I've looked on the tinterweb and it keeps asking me to make a file which I've done but I got stumped when it asked me to change an .m4a file to a .m4r file - I couldn't find where I would change this file and rename it

It witters on about file extensions but doesn't say where to go to get to these extensions

I don't have an iphone, but I couldn't work out how to do that on my Samsung.   I found a complex instruction on youtube that involved making files, renaming them, editing functions etc, it involved really going into the guts of the phone.    The guy had heaps of 'OMG - thank you!!!' comments and one chap said 'or alternatively, go to the song, choose the menu button and just click 'set as ringtone'

Pengy i had to get someone to do all that .m4a to .m4r for me as i couldn't be bothered working it all out, i know it involved taking a 30sec or less snippet of the song i wanted (for some reason any longer and it wouldn't work)

i think they make it complicated so you have to buy the ringtone aswell and the song!

That's probably the one thing I hate about iphones.  And the fact that you can only use a small snippet of the tune as a ringtone.  I loved nokia for the fact that once a song was on your phone you could set it as a ringtone and got the whole track with the press of one button.

If they can't cope with Apple, they won't stand a chance with Android.

see that's the beauty of android - you can set any song as a ring tone -no having to buy the song as well as the ring tone version.  It's just apple greed.

I've made the ring tone and it's on my itune list as a ring tone but it's still not appearing on my phone   I give up

I've done everything that is on this video - it's appearing as a ring tone in my itune list but won't appear on my ringtone list on my phone
