I just heard on the radio that Larry Hagman who played JR Ewing in Dallas died over night. 
Im gutted, this is horrible news for me as JR is my favourite TV character of all time, I had no idea he was even ill lately.
May he rest in peace....Dallas as a TV show is dead now, without him it cant go on.

Sad news as I enjoyed him in the original and best series of Dallas.
But to be honest, he has looked ill for quite some time, so I am not too surprised by the news today.

RIP Larry.I'm sure he was seriously ill a few years back so I was surprised to see him on the new show,he was 81 a good age.
He had throat cancer diagnosed in June 2011 and was getting treatment for it.

Very sad news .... I didn't even realise he was ill. So active not long before his death, what with the new Dallas series & all the TV and radio interviews he and Pamela Gray did only earlier this year.

I'm truly gutted - I loved him in I dream of Genie but he was the ultimate baddy as JR and I wanted to keeeel whoever shot him

He was quite the comedien by all accounts,so I thought posting the vid would be a nice tribute.

Famously anti-smoking in later life too, of course. One story I remember hearing is that he carried a small, battery-powered fan everywhere, and if someone lit up in front of him, he'd blow the smoke back into their faces!
Thanks for posting that, erinp. He'll definitely be missed: I think anyone who watched the revamped series of Dallas will testify that he still had "it" in spades till the very end.
