in a word no  my three daughters are all over 30, and they still stress me to high heaven. If my middle daughter goes to a concert you can bet your bottom dollar I get a phone call saying her and her hubby have lost one another.

I was on the phone two hours the other month while they were at a Coldplay concert reuniting the both of them..him from a phone box and her from a mobile.  The time before they lost one another at Newcastle Arena and I had to sort it out via the first aid station ladies mobile ... bear in mind, I'm in West Cumbria and they are in another County. I have palpitations every time they buy a concert ticket.

Word of advice Aimee (and it'll mean one less thing for you to worry about)... always have emergency taxi fare in the house that she knows of in case she goes out some night and ends up spending her cab fare on drinks (it's been done before ) and thinks she has to walk home or grab a lift off someone.  If she knows she can always get a cab and pay it once she gets home then at least you'll know she's never going to find herself in that predicament.   And.....something I used to do and my friends think I'm a bit of a weirdo is.... take a quick pic of the taxi licence number and text it to my OH  The looks I get but at least the taxi men know that I'm not too drunk to mess with!

Ells

Thanks for the advice everyone i've drummed everything into her, keep money for a taxi, don't go to the loo on your own, never leave your drink, she now just say's I know the rules before she goes out the door to be honest I don't think she's really into it, she doesn't like dancing and she say's she doesn't like the taste of drink so I think she just goes so she doesn't feel left out

Now her and her mates are planning a girly holiday next summer, I can feel the worry already

I think you need to put tracking devices on the pair of them

Aimee

I remember my nana telling me that a mother never stops worry about her children, no matter how old they are. She was right, Aims. Mine are 23, 27 and 30 and I still worry about all of them.

Lil Aimee seems like a sensible girl, I'm sure she'll take care - and that was good advice from Ells about the taxi fare and also taking a pic of the taxi number and sending it to someone, before getting into the cab.

Ickles raving around in London at Uni..   and I have learned the only way I can deal with it is to ...     NOT THINK ABOUT IT!!

It works right up til she texts me saying something like "Hi Mum, am in [whatever] bar, in [whatever] bit of London, came in here for a drink on my own & I have made lots of new friends - weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

or

"Mum..   how do I get blokes who I have told I am not interested in, or have told I have a boyfriend, to leave me alone?  Without upsetting them"

(that text sent me into a tailspin..  convinced they were going to follow her out of the bar and attack her on her way home)

On the whole though..   I have to not think about it.    She's quite good at keeping in touch though..    but if I haven't heard from her by midday after I know she has been out I send her a text saying   "alive?"

She's home this weekend...    I am going to try & convince her to let MrD set up the google latitude thing that will let him see where her phone is, on a map, in real time (He wanted to set it up on my phone..  but I was having none of it )

My daughter was at Uni in Leeds - I got many a call from her when she was in 'the Library' - it was her favourite pub.

And OP - NO - you never, ever stop worrying. My son (32) is in Cuba - been delayed because of a hurricane. Got a text this afternoon - it hit for an hour and a half but all good now.

My daughter is 35 and a couple of weeks ago I didn't hear from her for 3 days. I called the police to go and check on her. It took a week for her to speak to me again. In my defence I couldn't get her on the landline, the mobile, my granddaughter's mobile or her boyfriend's mobile.
