I keep having the VIP upgrade shoved into my face when I come on. There's no way to close it (not that I found. It's mightily annoying.

Me too Col. By the way, how are you? please don't answer if you don't want, but I really hope you are keeping well, or as well as you can.
yes I've been getting it too talk about shoving it in your face
I can't help feeling they'll eventually evict us permanently if cost really is a factor
I agree the pop up is annoying but I am thinking that I will pay my membership fee as soon as I can afford to do so purely because I think that Gaga have been very good to us and I feel it's just doing my bit.
I don't get it.
I'm always logged in though so maybe that's why?
I think the VIP upgrade message appears just on the Home Page.
So if you set your favourite/bookmark to any other page you won't see it.
For instance:
The list of all the forums page:
https://www.gagajoyjoy.com/forums
The Big Brother forum:
https://www.gagajoyjoy.com/disp...m/122595734166215945
If this isn't what you are referring to, then ignore what I've said
Ells I am always logged in too, but I get the pop up every day or so.
I haven't seen it whether I'm logged in or not. I have this page set in Favourites, so maybe El Loro is right?
Snap - although I can access them on my laptop.
Are you able to get yours at all, Baz?
I wondered what was happening earlier, i couldn't get rid of it either so I had to log out and then back in
I haven't had it. Thankfully.
EL posted at the same time as me, I just answer no thanks and it goes away, I bookmark the site on the BB page, does it only affect the BB users then?

I agree.
Forums don't usually charge but this site is too small for advertising to pay for it. We can't expect people to put work in to run this site for nothing.
I'm still worried about the security of the pay page though despite the information I've been given. I'm going to ask my brother who works in IT what he thinks.
Maybe a paypal option can be added at some stage.
Is this a one of payment then or a yearly one?

I have suggested the Paypal option but I do think its something that the powers that be should seriously consider especially if lots of us want to sign up. It is a yearly subscription so it is an ongoing problem. I much prefer a Paypal option to pay.
I'm always logged on at BB.
Sezit, thank you for asking. I'm much better than last week, but I have gone down another notch. Such is life, onwards and upwards.

Col. It was me that asked you how you are.

It's a yearly payment, but only for as long as you wish to pay it. If you start paying it, then decide you don't want to pay anymore, all that will happen is that you will no longer be a VIP, you'll still be a member here as you are just now.
You should only see the popup promo once every so often. It's currently set to only display about once every 15 NEW user sessions. And if you do see it once when you visit, you will not see it again for the remainder of your time on that site that visit.
As for closing it, you should be able to click on the "No Thanks" link to cancel. If that is not working for some reason, please let us know so we can investigate the problem.
It does close when you hit the 'No Thanks' button Ted. Is there a possibility of adding a Paypal option for us? If we have a number of members wanting to join up, some of whom may be wary of hidden charges on their cards, it might be an incentive for those with Paypal accounts.
I don't get it as I stay logged on always, even when I'm not there.

Wouldn't that cost our hosts squiggle?
Really is only a quid or so on top - don't see what the fuss is.
Re: Paypal- we may add support for PayPal at some point in the future, but it's not on the short-term horizon, unfortunately. Hopefully one day.
Velvet, I'm sure Paypal only costs the person paying, not the person being paid.

Velvets right
the person being paid gets a percentage deducted at the time by Paypal - the only exception and then it is a free service is if you send the payment as a gift - in all cases with Paypal the person making the payment pays no charges

I did think about that afterwards Velvet, trying to think of the downsides for our hosts. I don't think it's only the quid though, for some it does seem scary using your credit card on the web. I am fairly used to it and for me it won't be a problem as soon as I can see the wood for the trees financially speaking. How are you anyway, ages since we 'spoke'?
A suggestion was made on the Social Strata help forum in January about letting users pay by Paypal:
http://help.socialstrata.com/d...t/259824284641350904
You may wish to vote it up as the more people who vote for it, the better the chances are of getting it implemented.
Yes. I saw it just now, and it is no thanks for the time being even though it appeals. At my age, it is not always worth buying annual membership

I know it shouldn't, but that made me laugh a bit

Aww, I'm sure you sell yourself short - agewise I mean.
However, I'm in no-way trying to coerce you into paying, That decision is entirely up to you....and for whatever reason you choose..
