I've had my iPod for a while now. I converted vinyl to digital CD through a bought turntable/USB device. My vast CD's collection was easy to convert to iTunes, and I bought loads from various charity shops all over the UK. The rest I had to download through iTunes ! Most recently a lot of Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead. The library is easy to back up. I have a dock to connect it to my gramophone system. It works in the car. Ideal. I have read articles about how the sound is not as great but at my age one can't tell the difference. It's marvellous to be able to transport one's complete collection everywhere.

We still prefer to buy CD's, that way they can physically be in our lives for however long we want to keep them. Technology seems to change so quickly that what is available through certain sources at one time may become obsolete at another.

I like the physical feel of a CD.

Digital seems rather cold and distant to me.

I like to read the insert card  . . . and i like the smell - yes, the smell.

But digital is soooo convenient - i'll switch ... when i have to i guess

I buy downloads of music now Enthusiastic, because its quicker. However I still maintain that CDs sound better. And I even still have tapes remember them   which to me sound richer in sound quality. 

Did anyone see Grand Designs last night?  This house they built had a system with the speakers built into the walls, totally invisible, and they could dial up any recording that had ever been made! Now that takes some beating, and it sounded great too.

It's been a long time since I bought a cd, I like downloading because it's instant, and often cheaper.

Oh and by the way, why are mp3 downloads so expensive... Amazon is where I usually buy them  at completely rip off prices

 

No wonder people go and illegally download tunes.
