I think we should do our own Desert island Discs - pick our six faves and say why. I've been to a couple of dinner parties with that theme - really good fun

I was so hoping no one would pose that question. I have tried before and find so difficult. I once whittled it down to around 200 songs (I was doing it with a friend), but could not get down further. So we agreed on a figure of 200 and called it a day !!!

 

 

They played Echo Beach on Radio Two this lunchtime - I was in my car and sang along. 

Noooooooo ... I missed it

 

 

And it would have to be One Day More from Les Mis

 

And maybe The Story Of The Blues, The Mighty Whah, perhaps?

Mine would include Bette Midler's The Rose, Handel's Water Music , and Ennio Morricone's The Mission

We listen before the Archers Omnibus. Daniel Libeskind was a particular favourite. He actually chose a piece of Kurt Schwitters' work. We enjoyed Nigella Lawson's choices too. I will return once I have thought about my current choices.

Anyone who picks a Zappa or Beefheart track is remarked upon also.

I searched the first person that came to mind - John Peel - his selections were as eclectic as one would expect covering... classical, punk, reggae, pop, rhythm&blues!

Oooooooooh Supes - Jackson Brown and Leonard Cohen - you and Mr Woo would get on famously.

 

I limit his Leonard Cohen listening (and try to be out if he has a sesh) - he tries to sing a long for a start and he really and truly cannot sing - he tend.s to go a not melancholy too.

 

My list is a work n progress.

I know I shall have this one (probably) - I'd love you to take time to listen although it is a bit long. Mr Woo will have this at his funeral if only for the immortal line 'It's battered merchandise I sell' (fish and chips)

I'm one of those eclectic ones. I'd have some Weather Report, Phyllis Hyman, John Coltrane, New Order, Madness, Smiths, Jon Anderson, Joni Mitchell, Brian McKnight, MC Solaar, Dr Dre, Beatles, Airto Moreira/Flora Purim, Seu Jorge.....I could go on, so many.

Yes I had EC, but thanks for reminding me about it. Let's throw Roy Ayers in the mix...and I can't believe I forgot to mention Stevie Wonder and Pat Metheny. There's loads more. Bottom line is that I'm never going on Desert Island Discs.

I'm not going on Desert Island Discs either. Meanwhile I have arrived at my current first choice - Feel so Good, by Jefferson Airplane.
