I don't get why people want to restore things? As a part of history it should be allowed to deteriorate with time. Take pictures etc but leave things in their natural state. Preserve it but don't restore it. Doesn't restoring it take away from it's natural state? It's natural deterioration with time? Time which is in effect our "history"?

I believe they want to restore to "preserve for future generations".

Oh and also make money out of people going to see the items in museums.

 

I have not considered your point before and I kinda like it. So I think I may agree with you on this point. If you think about it, all our history will disappear at some point as our sun will not last forever and will "take us out" when it's own life ends.
