Julian Clary [Celebrity Big Brother 2012)

Celebrity Big Brother winner Julian Clary has claimed his win was a win for  comedy.

The camp comic was crowned champion on Friday night, beating Coleen Nolan to  the top spot in a tense final vote.

Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday after the live final, Julian  reacted: “I feel like comedy won in the end.

“For all the things that stirred up in that house and all the negative feelings, comedy will always win the day.”

He explained: “I always try to make things that are dark fun again. Having  said that, I was very surprised to win – I don’t generally win anything.

“It’s really put a spring in my step. The last thing I won was a cabaret  award in the 1980s.”

Meanwhile Julian, who will be returning to stand up in November, revealed he  hopes to write a sitcom for himself and Julie Goodyear!

He said: “I’d like to work with her on something. I can see a sitcom with us  in. An odd couple sitcom.”

He joked: “We’ll talk about it. Julie has great comic timing so it could  really work. Our coping mechanism in the house was just to have a laugh.

“She’s great value and very good company.”

Celebrity Big Brother: Julian Clary stars in Live at the Apollo and Children in Need performance

We were wondering when the delightful Mr Julian Clary would grace our screens once more. It looks like it won’t be long now!!

The camp comedian is recording a guest performance for Live at the Apollo this evening.

What exactly he will be performing on the stand-up show we have not been told, but we expect that we will be treated to some moments from his new show “Position Vacant Apply Within” which officially premieres on Wednesday.

Meanwhile it has also been revealed that Julian will star in a special, one off, comedy radio performance for Children in Need.

The event, Stand Up For Pudsey, will be held on Monday 22nd October at the Prince Edward Theatre in London.

Other comedians on the bill are Jo Brand, Rhod Gilbert, Al Murray, Chris Ramsey, Lucy Porter, Henning Wehn and Radio 2’s Jon Holmes. They will be joined by an exciting line-up of music performers including Scouting For Girls, Michael Kiwanuka, Civil Wars and the cast of Jersey Boys will perform a medley from the hit West End show.

Despite being very popular before entering the Celebrity Big Brother house, Julian told “What’s on Stage” that his win has given him a much needed confident boost: “I was so surprised. When you are in that house for three and a half weeks you don’t forget you are being filmed but you don’t really know if anyone’s watching and I thought I was being terribly boring. And because I never win anything I didn’t expect it.

When it was just me and Colleen left at the end I felt sure she’d win. So I was in a bit of a daze for a while. I’m getting used to it now and can say a gracious thank you when people congratulate meâ€Ķ and what a thing! Going out on tour now it feels like starting again. I think it’s made new people aware of me, and they are coming to see me in droves.

I’m kind of a hot ticket which, at my time of life is a real thrill. So, I’m just going to enjoy it all.”
