So could you give me a synopsis of True Blood - wot wud you compare it to?

Interview with a Vampire, Buffy, Twilight?

I fancy back-watching it on DVD

Not really any of the above...    if anything I suppose Buffy..    but strictly for adults (its pretty rude, lots of sex scenes..   lots of OMG HAHAHAHA moments)

Its a superb series!   Every episode ups the ante ..   everytime you think they couldn't top some shocking (& funny) scene, they do.

I've read all the books..    the telly series is based on the books, but the storyline differs quite a bit.    Neither is superior IMO..  one of those rare cases when the adaptation is as good as the book in its own right.

Oh and so far...  every season has been better than the last (although the one with Russell Edginton rampaging around has a special place in my heart - when chopping up a chicken I do a mean Russell impression with the chicken backbone in my hand )

Lots of eye candy too.   For the laydees (phwoooooaaaaaar Eric) and the menfolk too (MrD has the mega hots for Jessica)

I love it. It's scary, sexy, evil, romantic, and one of the best supernatural things I have ever seen. It has a superb story line, which draws you in from episode 1,and of course it is far fetched, but it is so well made it comes across as believable,as do all the characters, which shows what fantastic acting there is in it,  which makes it very scary in my opinion. My fave eye candy is Sam.

Glad there are fellow Lovers of it, so we will have something else to chat about when CBB is done.

Ditto. I'd say the TV series is about 30% in line with the books' plots but each are fine in their own right. Not just plots. Characters have been changed. More than one minor book character is a major TV character and some have even changed skin colour. But it does work.

I adore the theme tune as well.

And as for the eye candy all I can say is what relief it is to be swamped with male eye candy - Bill, Eric, Jason, Sam, Alcide...

I normally watch them online the day after they are aired in the States, I did watch the first couple of episodes but then me Mum got ill & I haven't had the time...

However, this time, MrD HAS watched them all online..    (normally he waits til they are on FX)..   and he reckons its the best season yet

I've watched them all online and I was extremely disappointed   some good bits but it didn't grab me as other series have - too many questions and not enough answers and I hate being left in suspenders

I've already seen it I thought it was better than season 4. There's a thread in the True Blood section here if any other naughty people want to discuss the fifth series in its entirety. I can wait for others to catch up though.

True Blood is a great show, sexy, wickedly funny, shocking, sad, it has it all, including great music on the closing credits every week(the episode title is always the title/lyrics of the closing track).

I am currently obsessed with Eric Northman. Alcide is stunning too.

Recently bought the boxset of series so far, and might have a re-watch when I get time.

Saint, watch episode one - but only if you want to get hooked

Typical.

I always pictured Hugh Jackman as Wolverine when I read Alcide in the books.

Hmm yes I can see that, that would definitely work...... Joe Manganiello is perfect though, he practically growls when he talks, rowwrr
