'Glorious 12th' delayed by custom

The start of the grouse shooting season, often referred to as The Glorious Twelfth, has been put back a day because it has fallen on a Sunday.

They are mostly ground birds along with pheasants etc, that's why they are not good fliers, they have to have an army of "Beaters" to flush them out.

The bastard landowners are still letting their gamekeepers put illegal poisons down to kill birds of prey, all are protected species too.

The Scottish RSPB are keeping tabs on how many are being killed, golden eagles even.....Grrr!

A boyfriend of mine worked a season as a beater, so, to show my disapproval, for christmas I had a friend who is an art teacher draw a sketch of him being carried off by a gigantic pheasant.

After many trips to Europe I think it is fairly obvious that birds of prey can thrive if they are looked after. We see all sorts. Yet when one compares same for same, apart from kestrels adapting to urban roads, we seem to have nothing here. Something is wrong. However I don't have problems with hunting as long as the hunters eat the hunted.

Like hell it does!  Even if it does, (which it doesn't) so what!  It's just city money going into landowners' money.  The overall 'rural economy' will see sod all from grouse shooting.

Like when they tried to claim fox hunting brought in £60m and half a million jobs into the rural economy, as if!  Complete and utter bullshit

Anything to do with killing wildlife for the excuse of it being a "sport" sickens me to the core. These people aren't starving like some in the world are, they're just self centred, ignorant and among many words I have for them not anyone I'd ever like to know in real life!!!!
