I suppose they had to compete with the Olympics the past 2 weeks, so maybe 'once more unto the breach' next year and then disown it.

 

Yes, I had thought myself that the Olympics would have an effect but BB has been running longer, the figures starting poor and not having any recovery. The Olympics weeks figures only just creep into this. 25th July (first day of Olympics) vs the previous week the figures are almost the same for BB episode.

they are flogging a dead donkey - i give it one more year, (unless their favourite is the publics/they stop messing with the format)

There is rumour that this is the last civilian BB .It was posted on DS that an insider gave this info out on Couch potato.

Thanks for the link, it's quite an interesting read. I find it funny how they are arguing over a few hundred thousand viewers making the difference as to whether the show is going to be continued. I think the advertisers play a big part. If the viewing figures aren't there, they won't pay top dollar for that slot.

I don't really think CH5 are really expecting big viewing figures. The channel is rubish, they know it and the viewers know it.

I remember reading Ch5 made a heap of money from last year

The contract was to run for 3yrs cos the local council had to publish details of buildimg changes in the area and sed the house would remain.

We are in year 2 so - i see BB continuing - at least til next year

Those figures are far lower than what C4 would have regarded as very poor ratings for BB just before they ditched it.

 

Those are higher figures than we expected. We don't know anyone who watches it, yet years ago we had a system in place where SMS were exchanged no matter where members of our circle were holidaying.

 

I would agree, but maybe Channel 5 are happy to accept poor ratings in return for higher profile.
