There's Olympic football games up here in Glasgow at hampden, but not many tickets sold. They might give them away free so that the grounds not empty  of spectators. There is a lot of work being done up here new roads ,housing for athletes etc due to us landing the next Commonwealth games in 2014.bet they put the fookin' council tax up.

Normally I love watching the Athletics - but these days it's hard to be convinced that athletes from certain countries are running clean so i can't be bothered any more

also (imo) it's too London centric for me to have any interest in it - in fact there was a guy on Matthew Wrights show today who summed it up for me - the Olympics these days (not just the London one) seem to be about the host country providing the facilities at great expense just so mainly American corporate sponsors can make themselves the sole sponsors to the exclusion of any host country sponsors and thus make a lot of money   the McDonalds vs fish and chips debacle is a case in question!

What? All the athletes undergo really strict anti doping tests, I think before, during and after the games: http://www.london2012.com/about-us/nocs/antidoping/

There were a couple of women (cyclist and swimmer I think) on Wossy's talk show ages ago and they described the procedure, it sounded horrendous

Can you honestly expect the Chinese to have athletes that are clean?   I do feel sorry for genuine athletes who do perform clean but I don't trust the doping procedure as despite anti doping's best intents, the dopers are always one step ahead

Islington via London Bridge?! Reset your satnav luv. But yeah, by all account the roads are gonna be deadlocked around now. I suggest you listen to a London radio station for the news. This, for example.

Clear as a bell going over said bridge and fine all the way up to Old St and beyond.  Apart from that, usual snarls at Brixton & Streatham.

Did giggle when I realised the cab firm in front of me

It'll be bedlam when the games start.

40 minutes?! Bloody hell! There's some stuff I'd like to see on the South Bank and at the Proms but I don't think I could take the road rage when it starts.

Tunnel and crossing are a permanent 'mare, Soozy.

You'd be better asking our Essex FM's as to the situ with Romford.

I travelled UP to Chelmsford a couple of weeks ago and apart from the tunnel and bridge, it was fine.  But that was before the real pre-olympic hysteria started to kick in.

Thanks for the link Cosi - tbh we're usually pretty lucky with the tunnel as we don't really use it at 'peak' times. I will have a proper look at the link when I've got my thinking head on

Tell me about it! We've got the centre of Wishaw closed for 18 months plus and I'm sure there'll be more to come as they'll probably want to hold the rowing event  on Strathclyde Loch.

Don't think they can. Didn't the Scottish parliament freeze it for 5 years (or something)?
