They've got a big gig coming up so it's timely!
I like them but by Jesus they are overrated, IMO at least

Always thought Stones Roses fans were kinda wankerish.
Life has taught me many things.
Happy Mondays though..
I wouldn't go so far as wankerish, but IMO, Ian Brown's solo stuff's been better than the musically limited stuff he did with "The Roses".
Happy Mondays were the better band though!
Ten Storey Love Song. Like it, and The Stone Roses. They're playing at T in the Park next week...wish I was going
I have no hard and fast opinion either way - I just wanted to say that I'm watching a recorded telly programme and browsing on here and as I read this thread.. 'Can you dig it' is playing in the background of this programme.
*twilight zone music*
I liked the Happy Mondays and Black Grape
Oasis not so much.
Stone Roses? Bit dull weren't they?
I dunno what they will be like now... but I loved them back in the day!
I WAS AT SPIKE ISLAND!!! I WAS THERE!!!! It was bloody amazing! I love their first 2 albums ..
Loved the Happy Mondays & Black Grape too, saw them live loads of times, though I have to say, having seen them many times in full partying styley , I then saw them stone cold sober & straight as I was 6 months pregnant, and they sounded a leetle bit shitter than I remembered
anyways... back to The Stone Roses... the moment Mani left to join Primal Scream you just knew it was all over
shame Ian Browns ego didn't realise it
Yep... and I shall be there on Saturday, I don't think they were really a great live band from what i've heard, but i'm glad i'll finally get to see them as I wasn't even alive when they seemed to be at their peak Shame I missed out on so many bands... The Smiths, Stone Roses, U2, Oasis etc. etc.
I would kill to have been around then.
Difficult to call which is my favourite song though. I am the resurrection, Made of stone, She bangs the drums, waterfall, fools gold, sally cinnamon etc. I would probably go with "This Is The One" though, it sounds great here when they played it donkeys years ago... not such great quality.

Agreed, IB has produced many more songs I like than the Roses. In fact I think I like just two Roses tunes. Found most of them instantly forgettable.
I loved the Mock Turtles - and still have my 12inch vinyls of Can you dig it and Wicker Man!
It wasn't just about Madchester though; i recall seeing bands live at that time such as the Prime Movers, 5:30, Chapterhouse and Ride and thoroughly enjoying myself!
Definitely the Roses for me.
They were like a ray of sunshine at the end of the pretty dire eighties
One of the last albums I bought on Vinyl.
They had one great album, but were always crap live I've heard (Ian couldn't sing)
The Mondays Barbados adventure is hilarious.
By now Shaun Ryder had become addicted to heroin, so the band were sent to Barbados to record a new album where it was believed the drug would be harder to obtain. Unfortunately the band spent all of Factory Records recording money on cocaine instead.

Two great albums! (The second coming was woefully under rated and imo stands up better today than the first )
Definitely the Roses for me.

Dire 80's you have to be joking. That was the last great decade in music. It's been downhill ever since.
Where's the option that there pussycats?
Not as good as Oasis or Happy Mondays, but they did make some good music. I Am The Resurrection, Waterfall, She Bangs The Drums, I still love listening to them on occasion.
Definitely the Roses for me.
