Yes Temps - and let's not forget he used accelerant - now a fire started with a careless cigarette is one thing - accelerant - surely to God he'd know that there wouldn't have been much likelihood of him making it up the stairs before it took hold. it would have have taken hold in an instant.

He apparently liked the Zleb life style on jeremy Kyle etc. - do you suppose he wanted to look like a hero? I have to say the pair of them look a few sandwiches short of a picnic and none too bright especially the wife.

Don't suppose I should have said the last bit - not very PC but - she really doesn't look all there to me.

One can still receive life for manslaughter.

Can they claim diminished responsibility?  Is that not reserved for people who were drunk or not of sound mind?

The main thing is, if it does go to trial, that the media back off now, because they're handing an appeal to them on a plate.  The police investigations are still ongoing aren't they?  So maybe they're not telling the whole truth and the police charged them to get them to spill the beans?  They're not guilty of anything yet.

Sorry, I've just twigged how to multi-quote...sorry for not using it before

I didn't know anything of the Jeremy Kyle stuff, I just heard they had been campaigning before (without success) for a bigger house.

And apparently Soozy, the fire was caused in the hall?  How did they think the children would get out if the bottom of the stairs (not to mention the front door) was ablaze?   The more I'm reading, the less I'm sympathising.

I think they also did it to encourage the neighbours to come forward.   They said as much on the news last night and people have been coming forward with information.    Not entirely sure how sound a tactic that is mind.   I seriously doubt they'd charge them without a pretty firm conviction that they were guilty though.

I don't know whether this is media driven, but there seems to be a lot of confusion about exactly where Mick was at the time of the fire breaking out.  One report says he was in the caravan with Mairead.  Another says he was just running up the road and spotted the smoke and another says he was called from a pub lock in   perhaps this is why the police are convinced he's not being exactly truthful?

I don't think either of those reasons would be LEGALLY acceptable reasons for making a charge.

I do think they are hoping now news they've been charged is common knowledge people might come forward with information they might not have considered important or too controversial to have brought up before which will support their case.

They can dress it up....or at least that's what Danny would do in Blue Bloods   Arrest them for murder, because some one did it and they were the only people seen in the area at the time...people get charged all the time and the charges dropped as more evidence crops up.
