That song is not really typical of the musical as a whole Erin. JC Superstar is my fave musical of all time! I've watched it a gazillion times....and it never fails to make me cry like a baby.

I just love the utter campness of it erin ... it's a bit of frivolity in a bit of an emotional musical

We do a pretty neat 'One Day More' duet

i just rung my son - he told me that one of the girls who was in Nancy (Oliver) came third is playing Iponine.

My son and I were doing duets from JC Superstar down the phone the other night - we're planning to book Manchester when it returns after the search for Jesus - that's another of my faves.

Samantha Barks - I liked her in 'I'd do anything' and she was playing Eponine when I saw Les Mis in Edinburgh last year - she's really good (better than Fantine).  I can't wait for the fim

Mel C - Mary Magdeliene , she was great in Blood Brothers

do you really think so Soozy?  i thought she was very shouty, but have never been a fan of her voice

absolutely love Les Mis, not too keen on the singing in the clip

I think it's suitably different from the little I heard - I don't think it should be quite so 'precise' - if that's the right word as it is on the stage. I hope it'll be good.

She did in the 25th Anniversary Barney.   I did think the singing was a bit suspect in that clip - I wondered about the voices of the actors that have been cast.  I'm still looking forward to seeing it though.

I think you're right, Soozy - they appear to have gone for a "realistic" approach. It's interesting that most of the actors are not noted for singing roles.

I'm starting to get excited about the film: thanks to you and Rawky for posting this!

You know what? HBC is the actress I had in mind for that role when I first heard about this film! She and Sacha Baron Cohen were both in Tim Burton's version of Sweeney Todd, of course...

aaah 25th was it, time flies

I totally agree with this, big names may sell movies, but really hope it doesnt spoil the reputation of the musical, particularly for people who havent seen the stage show, but do see the film

e.g. Evita - Madonna

I love JCS, first musical I ever saw.  Of course my favourite musical of all time is Cats.  We saw Blood Brothers earlier this year, with Marti Pellow and one of the Nolan lasses, it was good, but (for me) it didn't live up to the hype it got.  We're hoping to go and see Starlight Express later in the year, just need to remember to go online and buy tickets.

is it still on in London or just touring?  Have seen it a couple of times in London and it was fantastic, saw it in Liverpool and not so good, they can't stage it the same and the races were all shown on a big screen

barney

Barney, it's touring.

I forgot abut Lion King, I took Master Cinds to London to see it.  Can't really say whether I enjoyed it or not as he took really ill while we were in there and started puking everywhere.

Cinds

oh thats a real shame for you about Lion King, it really does look like brilliant staging

i only have to hear the music and it starts me off

hope you enjoy starlight, if you havent seen it before its a good fun show

barney

the musicals i have seen but didnt really like were

evita ( could have been to do with the fact that Marti Webb was playing the lead role and i dont like her voice )

cats  ( although OH enjoyed it more cos we were sat on the front row and he got a bit of pussy attention )

jesus christ superstar ( one or two great songs the rest a bit )

I don't think I've ever seen a musical I've not liked (apart from an am dram production of The Merry Widow !)  but I did feel depressed for days after seeing Evita.   I guess wheeling a coffin on stage in the first minute set the scene.

I love Rocky Horror! Lyrics of the millenium

"You're a hot dog, but you better not try to hurt her.....Frank Furter"

Cinds

One musical I didn't particularly want to see was Joseph - but my niece's school choir were in it years ago so I was dragged along.  I loved it and I tagged along on the bus with the kids about another 6 times during the run!   She can still sing every lyric to every song and she's 28 now.
